Not a chance at all, turbochargers act like mufflers on their own, they take LOTS of energy out of the exhaust gasses.

edit: oh you said stock exhaust, still I think it would be roughly equal with the valves opened up on the RS4, with the Magnaflow it wouldn't even be close at all.
With all due respect to Audi, I guess, I've never heard a great sounding Audi. My brother had an RS7 with an akraprovic, and that didn't sound that great. My muffler deleted, catless M5 on the other hand, she screams. Although nothing compared to the Brabus C63s I drove To each their own!

Trust me: wait until you hear it!
The RS4 isn't stock so why would I care about that comparison really?

The point is that the RS4 without an aftermarket is pretty dull. Back to topic: M235i vs M2. End of story!

Never bring an Audi to a BMW fight.

Edit: Unless its an R8 - But my F10 would still smoke it

I don't have a shot like this with my new M2, but why not enjoy some of the finest German automobiles from various manufacturers? They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Sorta sad I'm missing the primary color set that I had with the M235i, but I think I can live with Alpine White with all the carbon pieces on it

(R8 V10) / 2 aka RS3 (5 cyl) sounds awesome too

Back to topic (M235i owner here) :

M2 vs M235i vs M235i MPE, when you hear them you know that they are the same family, they sound absolutely N55. The m2 is louder, deeper. The m235i sounds great but it lacks of agressivity. The M235i MPE is better than stock, but not as deep/aggresive as the M2. The M235i needs cateless DP + muffler delete to sound perfectly.

... and the M2 with MPE is just insane. I love it (pricey but well worth it IMHO, or any aftermarket would sound as good)

For completeness, I that order from a sound fullness perspective:
- M235i
- M235i MPE
- M2
- M2 MPE

OK now all we need is some sort of measurable scale. For example if the M235i with standard exhaust is 100, and, just for the sake of argument, the M235i with MPE is 110, the M2 standard exhaust is 130 and the M2 MPE is 140..... anyone care to put those measurements down ? And maybe add the sports cat down pipe and muffler-less exhaust too. THAT would be really useful info.

I can't comment for M235i, but here is my scale:

M235i stock: TBD
M235i MPE: TBD
M2 stock: 100
M2 MPE: 150

I assume M2 stock is the perfect sound with 100 and yes, the M2 with MPE is 50% better than stock!

My guestimate is that the M2 stock and the M235i with MPE are pretty close.
