Any leaks about the next generation M2 ?

Picked up my M2 18 months ago (last week of the 2017 MY), and I love it to bits, but I'm not planning on keeping it beyond the warranty ($$$!)

Have there been any leaks about the next generation yet, or are BMW milking the M2C for another year?

(I should say, I'm not planning on doing much shopping around unless BMW do something really stupid!)

There is a post somewhere here in Bimmerpost that shows the life cycle of every model. I believe that the last of this generation is 2021 or 2022.

On the concerns about a BMW not under warranty they are highly overblown. Drove my E90 170,000 miles before I had a single issue. Ended up keeping it till 225,000 miles and the new owner to the best of my knowledge is still using it daily (he has had it 2 years). When we read posts here for example and see problems people have with their cars we think ours is a ticking time bomb but of course we never think that people don't post when everything is ok so we get a skewed view here. For example I read a million posts about the E90 water pump and how they would fail before 50,000 miles. Wanna guess when mine failed? Never. I did change it out at 170,000 miles because I had a AC Compressor failure and was doing the work in that area and decided to do it proactively but I suspect it would have lasted the full 225,000 miles had I left the original in.

Point is if you love the car you might want to consider keeping it, sure set aside a few bucks just in case but most likely you won't need it and it will be much cheaper then the cost of a new car.

FYI, you can extend the original warranty beyond the standard 4 year 50k miles - up to 7 years 100k miles if I'm not mistaken. So if nothing peeks your interest in the near future that's always a viable option as well.

If you have Geico insurance you can get their mechanical breakdown insurance. It's only applicable for cars with less than 15k miles and less than 15 months old.
Valid for 7 years or 100k miles and better/cheaper than extended warranty.

Edit: just noticed that you are off by 3 months. Sorry 😐

I love my M2 but these cars will be pretty long on the tooth in 2021/22 when you consider BMW is finally making changes to their interiors in new models which finally brings them into the new age where Audi and MB have been for a while.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm concerned because M failures are more expensive (I believe) than regular BMW issues.

Also, I need to check and could well be wrong, but didn't they change to a 3 year warranty?

Under October 2018 updates. So a good 2.5 years left of current generation. Shame CS/CSL will come so late though.

For some reason, I thought the same thing, but I checked, and apparently, we're both wrong!

End of production of the F22 2er and F87 M2 models is scheduled for June 2021.

Upcoming M2 variants: "M2 Racing" for early 2020 (US-only) and "M2 CSL" for mid 2020 (MY2021) (one-year production run).

So feel free to ask again about the second gen M2 in a couple of years.

Wonder why the speculative CS is rumoured to only be destined for USA and CSL is rest of world...? Not that I’m complaining being in the UK...
