I agree

There is a big Jump in price from a standard M2 to M3/M4. You could see the jump is acceptable as they have different engines and more luxurious.

New M2C Same engine, same seats and more, for a bargain price less than a M3/M4 don't seam right. M3 and M4 little difference in price but the M2 is in another postcode lol
Why wouldn't you post the M4???

The vast majority of dealer services are recorded and picked up by Carfax. Sometimes an oil change isn't listed specifically, and it may be listed as "scheduled maintenance performed." So then I call the dealer.

Autocheck is a whole 'nother issue (and basically a scam).

So, let me put it this way: "You wouldn't believe how many dealers I've called to ask about a service record for an M2 and found there were no oil changes done until 9,000, or 10,000 or 12,000 miles." Some dealers will give you that information if you have a VIN #. Others won't unless you own the car. In which case, I pass on that car.

Trust me, I'm doing my homework before I buy.

Would you want to buy a car that had an owner who didn't care about maintaining their car? I wouldn't.
there was no "snark" in my comment. You remarked about CarFax service histories being something you use when looking at cars, and I responded that CarFax service histories (or lack thereof) are of little value. A lack of service history on a CarFax might mean a car wasn't maintained, but it could also just mean the servicing dealer doesn't report to CarFax. Or, CarFax could show items that aren't actually what was performed. Either way, CarFax isn't a reliable source for service records, the only ones worth trusting are the ones in BMW's system.

Again, zero snark, just the reality of CarFax service histories. I do my homework, too, and I'll look at the CarFax for any used car I buy, just not for the service records.

Sorry

It's a saying in the UK , the price difference is massive compared to the M3/M4. Click on the photo to see the stating prices of all 3 cars in the UK.

M2 to the M3/M4 is over £10k M3 to M4 is minimalist

I started to reply to this as well.

I do run carfaxes and some states have a lot more detail than others when it comes to things like oil changes and maintenance and inspections

I see nothing wrong with oil changes done at factory recommend intervals. Unless you track your car, synthetic oil is good for that long. The old Dino oil wasn’t.

I actually don't mind it that much like a lot of people do.. but imo it does have a bit less crackles and pops which is likely just exhaust related

Not sure about the black M2 but the white one has a different muffler design than the mufflers we saw in leaked pics. The muffler in this video seems very similar (or identical) to the ones that we saw on G80 test mules.

Sound is so subjective for buyers - I can't criticize one engine vs. another because it all depends on what you like to hear. We've got some guys in our neighborhood who clearly watch too much F&F and think that with just one more mod they'll be Vin Diesel. They've got this Honda Civic all customized, and every time it drives by it sounds like the Fifth Panzer Army tearing through the Ardennes Forest. It's awful. I mean, it's grab your loved ones and say your goodbyes because Armageddon is upon us awful. But the kids all love it. In terms of that Civic, I'm clearly the odd man out. But it makes the S55 sound like angels descending in song.

Let's face it. Turbo motors from BMW are here to stay. The Turbo I6 engine sound will never make everyone happy. It's a compromise. Personally - I don't judge a car solely on it's exhaust note.

95% of people I've talked to didn't like the S55 sound. You can say that's a pretty objective percentage.

Oh wait this is the M2C appreciation thread my bad.

i know what you mean. but still with the comp bumper i feel like my m2 is more complete. the grills are different then a 2 series unlike the lci m2 grills.
also the comp bumper seem wider in the lower segment and tilted more forward. but i dont like the thinner fangs on the comp bumper
Agreed.

I would've been just fine with it this way instead...

I remember spending time in the 1 series forums back in 2011 when BMW switched from the N54 to the N55 platform on the 135i. As a newcomer, I thought that I had made a mistake as the consensus was that the N55 was awful for various reasons.

It's funny to see that it seems the N55 is now the bee's knees and history repeat itself. If anyone considering an M2 CS is having second thoughts, I recommend ignoring the S55 negativity as you consider your purchase.
