Another note from CFRP from BMW is that the 4x4 weave is stronger than the 1x1 and 2x2 that is usually used. I'm unsure if the large pattern in e video is 4x4 or larger. My point is that the CFRP top on the M2CS could be. A touch lighter than others. Likely an insignificant amount, but would demonstrate the amount of thought that has gone into this production.

I don't think so.
A matter of personal taste. I still got high esteem for the E46 M3 (I used to have an E46 M3 6MT and an E46 M3 SMGII). The E90/E92 M3 coupé, F80 M3 sedan and F82 M4 coupé ventured beyond the 4.5m limit (>177.17in), equally extending the wheel base, which is just a tad too tall for my liking. G80 M3 will be even taller. The F87 raises an 'E46 M3 reimagined and spiced up in the turbo era' impression.
The M2 CS is a 4-seater, no 2+2 seater or 2-seater. One could eventually coin it a truncated M4 CS with M3 CS doors interior, minus 10hp.
Admittedly, not many cars this size are on offer featuring 450hp, 6-cyl, RWD, choice of transmission (manual or dual-clutch transmission), appealing looks, 4 seats, adaptive suspension, a decent boot and quite some creature comforts. 'Urban use + track use': drive it to the track (eventually with extra tires on board), wring it out on track and get back home with it. The total versatile package makes the M2 CS a rare bird among the flock of high performance cars. Quintessential F87 with the final engineering touches to the S55 engine.

And so it appears that the length of M2C + M2 CS and 718 GT4 are virtually identical (difference of only 5mm/0.5cm or 0.2in), unlike the wheelbase (difference of 20.9cm or 8.23in).
Length and wheelbase:
  • 981 GT4 = 4438mm (174.72in) | wheelbase: 2474mm (97.40in)
  • 718 GT4 = 4456mm (175.43in) | wheelbase: 2484mm (97.80in)
  • M2 Competition = 4461mm (175.63in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • M2 CS = 4461mm (175.63in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • original M2 = 4468mm (175.91in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • E46 M3 = 4492mm (176.85in) | wheelbase: 2731mm (107.52in)
That all sounds great, but do you think the tweaks to the engine and very long in development new MPE can make this M2 sounds as deep and mean at low revs and through the rev range as the original M2 with MPE?

E46 M3 Coupe: L=4490(WB=2720mm), W=1780, H=1370mm
F82 M4 Coupe: L=4671(WB=2812mm), W=1870, H=1383mm
F87 M2(C) Coupe: L=4468(WB=2693mm), W=1854, H=1410mm

Compared to E46 M3 Coupe, the M2 coupe is 27mm short in wheel base but 40mm taller. I'm sure you knew I have a thread for this topic.

In the context, 40mm is twice the maximum M Coilover's drop. Personally, way out of proportion for a coupe.

M2 is much more hatchback than coupe shaped.

I'll effects of the increased height can and may be offset by reduced mass.

Not heard the M2 CS engine in real life yet. There is the recent video of the M2 CS lapping the Hockenheimring, where you get a rough idea of the sound that can be heard inside the car (see here). The article said that the car sounds "mild" on the outside, but exciting on the inside.

As regards Europe: European regulations tightened CO2 emissions and noise levels for all new cars in Europe. Car manufacturers are required to observe those regulations if they want their new cars to be homologated.
  • CO2 emissions: see for example here ("Reducing CO2 emissions from passenger cars") and here ("The OPF - Pandora's Box For Many Petrolheads");
  • noise levels: see for example here ("European Noise Regulations Are Forcing Sports Car Makers to Resort to More Fake Engine Sounds").

Nice color combo with SMB. I have a feeling those who go with Misano blue and black 763s are going to be *very* happy. That combination will look great with either yellow ceramics or red steelies.
I'm under the impression the most of the preview event participants would agree Misano Blue is a definite downer, especially on golden wheel.

Besides that - white/black/silver, I don't recall any special edition BMWs coming with such underwhelming color palette.

Probably the idea looked nice on paper for those who came up with it.

As with any color combo, you will always find people who are okay with it. Personally I would look into another color combo (tuxedo cool with a red bow tie: BSM with dark CFRP and some gloss black thrown into the mix, combined with jet black 763M wheels contrasted with red accents (red-colored brake calipers of the M Sport Brakes + red contrast stitching gracing the alcantara/leather interior)). All stock.

Sound inside…, with ASD (Active Sound Design) I suppose.

Combination Misano Blue, jet black 763M wheels + red color brakes would have been a lot more tasteful.

Black is gorgeous, but unfair not letting all these carbon bits pop up a bit. Plus, black is difficult to maintain. I'd settle for HS given these options.

In my market, like every special edition M before the M2 CS, getting one isn't difficult at all. But seriously, F87 one more time for my next daily commuter? It had to be more special than the CS we already know.

IMHO Mineral Grey Metallic or Frozen Dark Grey Metallic is dearly missed in the M2 CS line-up.

Fire Orange is the bomb

They should have brought it back for the M2C/CS platform

Maybe the sales for the Orange were too low? I wonder how they decide this beyond the painting capacity of the factory.

How hard is it to have trace amounts of pigment paint for paint jobs? Like i dont see any reason why they dont offer 2 dozen choices for colours for cars

I agree! I would have loved to see additional colors, maybe a special new color for the M2cs.

Honestly, a nicer deeper blue and orange?

Something!

Well M3 CS was sold in 2018 and called a 2018 model. So maybe a 2020 model year since it is being sold in 2020?

Adjustable suspension makes a big difference to folks unlucky enough to have to drive on bad roads (like me). You’d have to shell out $5k on a KW DDC or $6-7k on the Tractive option to get cockpit adjustable suspension in an M2C otherwise.

I’ve driven the M3CS back to back with my car (with CS engine tune, CS damper/steering/diff/etc settings), and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. These special editions by BMW sometimes feel that way (my 2003 ZHP was the same way).

Now it all depends on price. My friend got his M3 CS at $84k, not a bad discount...

True...a MG M2 CS with dark 763M wheels would be awesome combo...
