Am I the only one who likes the original M2 more than the M2C ?
IMO the first gen 2016-2018 M2 were much better:
Styling was better, engine sounded better and although less powerful it delivered power better. The new M2 Competition sort of ruined a few things, namly the styling: small things that make such a big difference. The kidney griles are over sized and fused together, looks terrible, the fins on the left and right intakes on the bumper are more angular and edgy which looks like the car is catering to 10 year olds. And what are those three slits at the bottom of the bumper? Looks too busy. Engine is "more powerful" but it delivered power slowly and it sounds not as good. Wish they still made the old style, I would buy it new if it was available. In general the new BMWs are looking worse and worse, X7 is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. |

I love my M2. I probably would have loved M2C If I didn’t already own an M2. With 0-60 mph time difference of 0.1 seconds, I couldn’t justify changing to an M2C. Though I think the front seats in the M2C look a lot nicer.

slap an OG front bumper and 763m wheels on the M2C and you've solved 100% of the cosmetic issues ;-)

Unless you purchase the Performance or an aftermarket, I prefer the 'burbles' from the standard '16/'17/'18 M2 exhaust system.

I definitely prefer the OG M2 over the Comp model.
Things I prefer about the M2C: - Front bumper air intakes. - Increased power. - Seats. - Mirrors. Things I prefer about the OG M2: - Sound. - Torque feeling down low. - 437M wheels. - Overall more reliable engine. - Much less possibility of a crank hub issue. - Less, and less expensive maintenance as the car ages. - Price If I were offered both cars new for the same price, I'd choose the OG M2. I prefer the m2c more angular teeth on the lower bumper but the classic kidney grills on the OG.
The m2c mirrors look better and more interesting. The interior on the m2c looks a little better, but not sure as comfortable without thigh support like the OG. Like the OG wheels better and they're lighter. In the USA prefer the OG brakes because they're lighter and fine. Usually prefer a more revvy engine that doesn't give out at high rpms but I have not driven the s55 in the m2c enough to know if it would satisfy me. cooling is a lot better on m2c, OG heat soaks fast. The mode selection with M buttons on the m2c is much preferred. |

I'd be thrilled with either car.
Chose OG LCI because of the N55, the exhaust, and it was cheaper. Love it. I may flip it for a lightly used M2C in a couple of years just to get the experience of both. Or not. All good either way

The ONLY thing I prefer on the OG are the smaller split grills. But the front clip as a whole looks much better and more aggressive. Sound is at the bottom of my list of things. Oh, your mirrors and seats don't comply to M standards either!

Love my OG M2, but to be honest, it hit my price point (and I needed a car immediately, could not wait).
If the M2 and M2C were the same price, M2C all the way. If there was an M2C on the lot for more, then I would have had to make a decision. S55, seats, mirrors, front end styling, newer MY (longer warranty) all would have pushed me towards M2C. The only negative *for me* are the 788s (personal preference). But the CPO M2 on the lot ready for pickup made the decision for me. |

This has already been discussed many times on the forum. It isn’t up for debate. The original M2 blows away the M2C in the looks department, especially the MY16 and MY17.
1.Much better looking front bumper. It is beefier looking and suits the overall vision of the original design.M2C front bumper is to narrow and has those stupid looking openings in the lower portion. 2.Kidney grilles look perfect on the OG.M2C has those stupid looking moustache grilles. 3.Better looking headlights with full angel eye design and LED eyebrow on the OG MY16 and MY17.M2C has partial led corona design without LED eyebrow.Doesn’t look as good. 4.Superior looking dash design on the MY16 and MY17 M2 with sporty looking double cockpit design.M2C has a bland flat dash. 5.Way better looking stock muffler on OG that is totally hidden.M2C has without a doubt the largest and most ugly muffler in the history of BMW. 6.Great sounding exhaust on the OG.M2C exhaust sounds like crap. The only design feature better looking on the M2C is the M mirrors.I even prefer the OG seats to the M2C M seats.OG seats are more comfortable and have the thigh extenders..The M seats are to narrow and they don’t have the thigh extenders.Great to see that BMW is now including the thigh extenders again on the M seats in the new M3 and M4. Only reason to get an M2C over the original is if you track the car and need more HP. |

Sound is very important to me, it's an important part of the visceral experience of driving. My daily commute is public roads I'm not pushing the car anywhere near it's mechanical limits, so I think sound might actually be one of the more important aspects of a daily for me. I think the Comp. seats are something I'd definitely love to have though.

I didn't like the Comp's new bumper at first, but it definitely has grown on me and I like it more than the OG M2 now. The grill on the OG reminds me too much of older BMWs.

I own an OG M2, but I'd much prefer the M2C than it, & I'd much much prefer the M2CS than either. Why would you want something that's not as good ? That's just crazy.
The price difference between the 2 is quite dramatic in OZ thus I can heavily mod my M2 (which I've done) & still have money to spare (if I had an M2C I know I would mod it also as I wouldn't be happy with that standard car either). Plus my M2 is a daily driver as I am lucky that I have a dedicated track car so I can live with the base M2. If I did not have my other cars I would likely have paid the extra for the M2C & used it for daily & track use. Once the CS drops in price after 2-3 years as per usual I will possibly update to the CS as a daily. All 3 are great versions of what is currently the best car BMW make imo.

The mirrors are fantastic, but easy enough to replace. Try getting that terrible sounding S55 to sound decent with ANY amount of money. Not gonna happen. I like the look of the M2C seats, but in reality, for a guy my size, the M2 seats are great. I can get the power you have, but you can't get the sound and feel I have. Pretty much sums it up. |
