M2Comp. Specific Track Belt Options
I have an M2C that is my daily driver but sees a fair amount of track days as well. For whatever reason, BMW chose to put seats into the M2C with fully integrated headrests (which precludes running competition seat belt between the head rest and seat back. I am not planning to install a rollbar but would still like to take advantage of the improved support of competition belts over my stock belts (even if the level of protection is not improved).
I’ve used the Schroth Quickfit Pro system previously on my dual purpose cars cars. That type system would be preferable but not sure how that or other competition belts can work with the integrated (fat) headrest since they can’t pass between the headrest and seat back. Has anyone come up with any good options? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Given that the factory added the “competition” moniker to these M2s I’m hoping that they did not choose a seat that makes it more difficult to “compete” without swapping out the seats. |

Your going to either put in some seats with cut outs at the correct height, or a proper harness bar rig.
One of the issues thats been brought up is when fixed back seats are installed its not possible to get passengers in the back seat anymore, or track tires. I did a rear seat delete and will be installing some seats probably next year with sliders.

BMW's decision to put these seats in the M2C and M3/M4 are horribly out of touch with the track community. They are even in the upcomming M2CS, I believe. OG M2 seats are much more conducive.
Sorry, not offering any solutions. Just a short rant. |

Rant acknowledged and increasing distress. Can’ live with fixed back seats or seat delete. Are OG M2 seats plug and play? How big a hassle is the swap? Just what I need..... find a spot for an extra set of seats in my garage. Grrrrr.

It shouldn't be too hard to switch, and they're probably easy and cheap to get since you can use any 2 series seat or m2 seat. I still do not recommend using a harness on a seat without dedicated harness allocation slots though, and I would also prefer a fixed back seat.
