putting DCT into neutral?

Is there some way of putting the DCT into neutral without starting the engine so I can push it very short distances?

if you shut it off without the 2nd push of the button it should stay in N.

I don't think so, which worries me if the car needs to be put on a flat bed but you can't start the engine.

Yes it can be put in neutral.

With the accessory position on, pull the shifter to the far left and hold it there briefly.

Tried holding the lever to the left with radio state on, didn’t go into neutral!

Push the start button one more time without your foot on the brake so that you don't start the car. Now apply the brake and move the shifter to the left and into neutral.

I was under the impression that this cannot be done without the motor running as the pin that locks the transmission is hydrolic and requires the motor running to actuate. I'm sure there's probably a very well hidden method for bmw mechanics but sadly I do not know it.

There is...I just need to find it....

Here:

This is from a E90/92 M3 DCT but applies pretty much to the F8x

There is only way to get to this DCT lock pawl release and that's from under the car. Here is the link from the M3/4 forum where it was discussed
