I really sorry this happened to you. I hate thieves. MY car didn't come with wheel locks either, but luckily I had the old set from my M235i. I don't know how much that would have helped, but it's better than nothing.

Ask insurance to cut the check directly to you, they usually will. That way you can at least try to upgrade the wheels like some previous posters mentioned. The 437 wheels and the 763 cost about the same BTW.

Security at my job's parking garage is obviously substandard, but I wish I didn't have to find out this way.

Please keep an eye out for a full set of four 437M wheels with Michelin PS on the out of South Florida. Those could be mine!

I would assume there would camera at a work parking garage? Any damage to the car? No one saw anything?

Also MPS4S tire upgrade incoming?

They have quite a few different key patterns. Unfortunately, anyone can purchase a master set of keys off ebay for under $100.

After reading this thread I will be replacing my OEM wheel locks.

That blows and ya, people suck. It's not like you can throw them on any ol car so maybe stolen to order? Do you park in the same place every day?

I have two different sets of wheel locks on mine but you know, if you are in the wheel theft business, I'm thinking your tool kit has the master key for all the common brands.

The only way is to get five different sets so that you have five different lug bolts on each wheel, still steal-able but likely not worth the hassle.

Time for new wheels!

I didn’t go that far, but I do have two different wheel locks on mine. I figure if a thief wants my wheels, they’re really going to have to work for them.

I had my window broken a few years ago, and a GPS stolen when parked in a gated garage 4 levels underground when I was living in an apartment in downtown Seattle. People suck.

I used wheel locks once before, and one of them wound up breaking. It took hours for the shop to drill it out.. What a pain.. I dont trust them anymore.

Sorry to hear this. I grew up in South Florida and have had a car burglarized, it's a lousy feeling. But thanks for posting - there will be people, myself included, buying wheel locks, thinking twice about parking patterns, and being more careful thanks to your post. Not much of a silver lining, I know.

It was different back then but in the '70s and '80s my dad would not take us into Homestead, Cutler Ridge, or Miami without carrying.

It'll get sorted out. Hopefully this get people thinking about wheels locks, or looking at their own parking situation.

Yeah, S. Fla sucks as far as cars getting burglarized. About 11 years ago I had my S2000 top ripped open and they tried to take my seats (frequently stolen item in this model), but they must have gotten spooked and took off. Still had to replace the top. At least that time, I was able to drive the car to get it repaired. This time, it was a total pain in the ass, and the tow truck driver was not the easiest guy to deal with.

I should have known better and will take measures to prevent this from happening again. Was pretty frustrated yesterday, but today just trying to forget about it and spend some time with the family.

Considering 763M vs. 437M wheels. Anybody know where I can get the best price?

I think Im going to go that route as well. I'll keep my BMW locking lugs and then add in locking lugs from a different manufacturer. Means 2 keys, but whatever. I take the wheels off like once a year for my annual summer deep detailing.

Sorry to hear about your wheels. Get some wheel locks now; I knew rim thieves when I was a teenager (one died running from the cops), It doesn't matter what kind of wheel locks; when thieves sees them, the last thing they want to do is draw attention to their crime and removing wheel locks are sometimes very noisy, so they move to the next victim..

Just don't let anyone tighten them with an impact wrench.. You'll know why I said that if they do..

Sorry 'bout your wheels.. that sucks!

Slightly off topic, but a funny story...

I've been in real estate construction for years, eventually getting my contractors license, starting my own company and building 60, 80, 100 unit apartment buildings.

When I started out, I went to work for a big construction company as a grunt/laborer...

We were building a 78 unit apartment building and the building was framed, and wrapped. Appliances had been installed.

Arrived one morning to find a gigantic UHaul truck in the unpaved driveway, loaded with brand new dishwashers, ovens, microwaves! Totally filled to the top!

Thieves had spent the night removed them from the apartment building and loading them into their rented UHaul!

Problem was, it had rained the previous several days, and the driveway was unpaved dirt!

So, when they finished carrying down the stairs all of these appliances, and loading them into the truck, they got in the truck and tried to drive off...

The back wheels got stuck in the mud! The truck, fully loaded, wouldn't budge!

They must have run out of time, knowing that workers would show up at 7am!

We were able to track them by finding out who had rented the truck!

Good news.. we didn't lose any appliances!

Bad news... I and several other workers spent the day hauling these heavy appliances back up to the apartments!
