I knocked out two birds with one stone today. I had my 1200 mile break in service and had my M Performance Exhaust with carbon fibre tips installed. Everything surprisingly costed 460 euro which was way cheaper than i had anticipated.

After getting a good look at the exhaust when it was finished I realized the tips are uneven so I will fix those tomorrow morning. I also made a quick sound clip of a cold start after the car had sufficient time to cool.

Haha, I like the poster the mechanic has on his wall! Can't have anything like that displayed here in the states without "offending" someone

Changed from dealer oil of 0-40 to Redline 5-30 and I can't express the significant improvement!!! I really didn't think there would be any noticeable change but let me tell you... the cold start is way smoother and the car feels much more responsive driving... maybe some placebo effect but definitely some noticeable changes! Maybe a 40 weight is too thick for our engines unless heavily tracked?

This is just a theory but seeing as you're Canadian I assume you have lower ambient air temps than many of us down here in the US, which would make a less viscous oil better suited for your car. If you were in Florida or Arizona or something you might have the opposite experience/opinion as a thinner oil would heat up too quickly in those regions.

I agree but it's been super hot here around 90F. Also once the engine is at operating temp, ambient temperature doesn't influence oil temp.

Thinner oil warms up faster so that might explain why you feel your car running better at cold start, idle or during normal driving. When you start pushing the car hard is when you might potentially face problems.

That's incorrect. Ambient air temp will 100% affect oil temperature.

If it's hot out your IAT's go up. The intercooler works less effectively, the coolant gets hotter and your oil temp is going to go up as a result of that. Obviously you'd have to push the car very hard to get the cooling system to struggle but if you're on a dyno or at the race track then air temperature makes a huge difference.

Going through it's paces for any required paint correction, a full body XPEL Ultimate Plus wrap, and finally, an IGL Kenzo premium coating

Here's the initial wash and breakdown for paint correction:

Well, I got to test a new feature of the car.....the damn air pump. I jumped in my car for lunch and the warning came on. Only 6lbs in the right rear. I went into the trunk, found the pump, peeled away the pink bubble wrap and pumped it up. The rear 12v power in the trunk came in handy here. It was down to 24lbs when I left work. Pumped it up one more time and headed home. Sure enough, I picked up a roofing nail. I patched it and am back in business. I figure I have 2-3k left in the tires......

I didn't touch what looks to be the most expensive can of Fix a Flat I've ever seen.

Didn't know there was a 12v socket in the trunk? I also used the pump to put air in passenger rear tire even there was a nail in it. Works pretty well! Didn't bother with the gunk....

Ideally I'd like to program them to open and close my exhaust valves but well see what we can come up with (if we can get them to function at all).

Agreed, I don't think I'll do windshield due to visibility but after seeing this the rear lights is an almost definite now lol, especialy on MG given my rear reflectors are already tinted.

Removed the stock and fitted the M Performance Carbon Fiber Spoiler; something I've wanted to do for a long time!

Ordered the part from Sun Motors via eBay using a 15% off code a week or so ago.

Removing the stock spoiler wasn't too difficult using dental floss and a cardboard wedge to keep tension on the adhesive as I moved along. It took a while, but wasn't exactly difficult.

Removing the remaining adhesive however was awful. I ended up using carefully applied Brake Cleaner (the illegal in several states as well as California type) and a plastic razor blade. I did end up with some very minor surface scratches from the removal process, but a single pass of M105 got rid of that.

Actual installation of the M Performance part was pretty easy, and it looks great. Last step was to coat the paint on the trunk and spoiler with CQuartz (to protect, and to remove that which had been removed during the polishing phase) and it was all done!

I love that in the rear view mirror I can just about see the top of the spoiler, and when the light is at the correct angle, you can see the carbon fiber weave glinting in the sun.

P.S. You can still buy 'real' brake cleaner in California, but you have to now buy a product called CRC Lectra-Motive. The VOC Class for 'Brake Cleaners' has mandated a move to Non-Chlorinated cleaners in CA and NJ, but the VOC Class for 'Engergised Electrical Cleaner' still allows Chlorinated products. The ingredients are identical to Chlorinated brake cleaner in other states (tetrachloroethylene) and you can buy it widely in CA.

Hi I just registered for this forum, although I've been reading it for a while.

Went up to some twisty mountain roads today and had an absolute blast. Love the M2.

This is the first time I used it, but it came in handy. It's on the left side above the little tray just behind the wheel well.

FWIW, I used fishing line to cut the tape along with 3M 03618 Adhesive Remover and a credit card to remove the tape and adhesive on mine.

A little patience and a number of gentle passes are required but the trunk lid cleaned up perfectly.

All in all, very easy.

If I had to do it again, I would use a plastic razor blade instead of the credit card.
