I was under the impression that this cannot be done without the motor running as the pin that locks the transmission is hydrolic and requires the motor running to actuate. I'm sure there's probably a very well hidden method for bmw mechanics but sadly I do not know it.

Here: This is from a E90/92 M3 DCT but applies pretty much to the F8x There is only way to get to this DCT lock pawl release and that's from under the car.
