TrackWing temporary spoiler
Just recently came across this product and wanted to gather some thoughts on it.
The idea of a temporary wing really entices me. I wonder if any of yall use this, or something similar and care to chime in on your experience. Thanks https://trackwing.com/products/vms-n...39564153258043 |

I think that looked better at 2am . Doubtful that tech would allow it at most schools, and even if they did, it seems iffy - if it produces any real downforce, it will be prone to denting the trunk panel; if it doesn't then it is just a cumbersome cosmetic enhancement (in truth, at least 50% of the 'aero mods' I see could be classified this way). And have you really contemplated the damage that thing would do if it came loose at track speed, flopping and pulling at those tethers?

I've constantly thought on and off about this system since it was released last year.
And as many concerns as people have, I haven't seen evidence of any failures (despite hearing from someone that their friend saw on social media of one failing, but not being able to produce any pictures or posts for me to see first hand...) If I had $2k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd try it out (and do some off car tests of the system first).

I've used this device for 13 track events so far with absolutely no failures, primarily at Watkins Glen and CTMP (Mosport). Seen speeds of up to 146mph. Works flawlessly. Just know that it produces so much downforce that a proper front splitter is necessary.

You addressed one of my main concerns that I havent mentioned yet; if you stick that rear to the ground the front is going to want to lift. Don't think my front lip is really capable (ebay cf, not really a splitter) @Drkevm5 Could you share what brand your wing is? it looks slightly different than the one i found. I understand the cups might be the same brand (trackwing?) Last edited by neonbrown; 08-22-2022 at 04:32 PM.. |
