Just got my 1200 mile service done. Woo! First things first, launched the car. What a hoot!

The rubbery feel is completely gone. It is almost like a gated Ferrari shifter feeling mechanical and precise. The biggest downside of the OEM shifter for me was first to second that didn't allow you to pull the shifter down in one fast motion. Now all gear changes feel very much the same and that consistency is very enjoyable when driving.

I got the M2C mostly for track (driving Sport Turismo for daily) but now I enjoy shifting so much that I will keep driving it daily at least for a while...

Thanks for answering my question. I also spoke to Ron and he suggested I drive the car for a week with my new M Performance shift knob to better determine if the shorter height on the MP knob is comfortable in relationship to the center console arm rest. if I don't feel any measurable discomfort, he will keep the shift lever the same height as stock and suggest the 20-25% reduction correspondingly. If bothersome, he will raise the shift lever to stock height and assign the corresponding difference in shorter throw % reduction. I get my MP shift knob tomorrow. will install over the weekend and see what happens.

Sounds like a good plan. I paid more attention driving today after reading your questions and I really don't see any noticeable difference compared to the stock shifter height but you should test it for yourself as Ron suggested.

Installed the M performance shifter today, feels good but nothing great compared to the stock shift knob , infact it feels little lighter than the stock knob which is not a good sign as i like weighted knobs

I think the stock shift knob is fantastic. It fits perfectly in my hand. The weight and feel are also perfect. Literally would change one thing about it. In comparison, the stock shift knob in my e46 M3 felt terrible. It was way too light and too skinny, which felt like a long broomstick. Hated it.

correct , expected shorter throws and weighted. Other than the looks its not much different from the stock shifter

For counterpoint, I really didn't like the stock M2C shifter. Too big and bulky.

I put the MP one from IND on and couldn't be happier with it-- it takes a day or three to get used to it, but once you settle in with it, you'll wonder why BMW didn't make it the stock knob. And as a bonus, it looks great.

I'll install the AS SSK and UCP with it in a week or two when the time.

Really seems like this is the way to go if you have a MT. About how much was it for the auto solutions kit and install?

I think the knob with the CF/alcentera plus overall material is slated more for a mechanical feel. Is there anything underneath the stock boot or knob that can be moved over to the IND setup?
