Stock M2/M2C are neither great in all conditions on the road nor on track.

Is this a proven info?
I have some doubts.

I think the CS has adaptive dampers, likely why the ride is better.

Joe's not on tv he's on the web. You don't get in depth 30 minute videos on a car on tv. I appreciate the depth and passion of his analysis over the over-produced bubblegum tv stuff.

yeah, that part was obvious when you watch his videos...

...the problem with platforms like youtube is that it gives anyone a platform... for probably 95% of these people, it's obvious they dont belong in front of a camera.

Not everyone can be a Chris Harris... also not everyone needs to be a Schmee or annoying blogger.

Stock M2/M2C are neither great in all conditions on the road nor on track. And if you tune your M2 to make it great on track, you end up with a car awful to drive on roads that are not perfectly flat...

A pity there is only four basic colours available for this CS still... It would be so nice in San Marino blue If money was falling from the sky, I would take a CS and make it paint by BMW in this colour...
I doubt that is the case. If you are fast on track, the stock CS suspension is just as marginal as any OEM suspension, and you will still need camber plates, track pads and better tires (even the OEM Cups aren’t perfect on track).

Any OEM suspension (M4 GTS excluded) will limit you on track at some point. Not saying it cannot be fun (I tracked OEM for many years, 4 years just on the F80 chassis) but you’ll be capped performance wise.

Getting a BMW fan boy to review a BMW car is a complete waste of time.

A review needs to be objective.

Joe never has a bad word to say about a bmw and shmee will say whatever he has to say for a freebie.

The only objective reviewer I can recall is Chris Harris Drive. They are entertaining informative and honest.

The CS is not as special I hoped it would be. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but so does the OG M2 minus the hood. Marginal increase in performance and adaptive suspension, which is a nice add. In addition, this blue mutes the contours of the vehicle. Not being a Debbie Downer, but for the price, move to a P car.

Lol, go spec a P car. With a starting msrp ~100kUS I can't seem to keep it under 110k US. Step into. 992 and it's even higher. If your shopping a $60k car. Jumping another 50k for a "better" car seems equally difficult to stomach. If cross shopping an m2 with a Cayman, then I think that ones priorities aren't yet sorted. M2 vs 992 or macan turbo seem more appropriate.

For sure or at least it does to an extent. I love the idea of a low depreciation special edition. But $25K? Too much! I could be talked into $15K or something that is a lower proportion of the overall cost of the vehicle.

Certainly. And if I didn't pick up my M2C last year, I might seriously consider the M2CS. It's just a bummer to spend a lot of money for a halo, "best of breed" car, only to have its platform replaced the next year with updated/better engine, suspension, brakes, features, etc. It's just the necessary timing of the model life cycle.

On the other hand, at least with BMW, the updated model is almost always heavier and more removed/insulated from the driving experience. And time helps bring into focus the true greats—the E46 M3 CSL owner probably isn't upset that he or she doesn't have a base E92 M3...
The thing about BMW Ms that I like is they are generally holistic cars and no replacement car is better in every regard than the car it replaces. They always compromise some other dimension.

This allows owners of all cars to enjoy them even after they've been 'replaced'

Eg. E92 M3's steering feel and engine sound often regarded as better than the F80

But the F80 M3 is now regarded as better looking than the G80 M3

The E46 M3 was regarded as having the best straight 6 sound vs the then sacrilegious 8 cylinder E92 M3

For the F87 - OG M2 has better engine sound than the M2C and M2C is considered better value proposition than the M2CS

The level of knowledge of Joe on the car he reviews exceeds that of many TV types who are probably given a script (excluding Chris Harris who is my all time favourite).
