M2C vs 991.2 4S/GTS

Just as the title says... a little background. I have a 2021 DCT M2 competition for about 4 years now. Car is amazing but I am itching to get back into a 6 spd since I no longer drive into NYC for work and I just want an upgrade.

M2C warranty will be up and I have to decide my next move, stay with it for another year or 2 or finally upgrade. I have a 1 year old son so a "back seat" is important since this will be my car while the wife has the SUV.

Would love to hear from anyone who has made the switch from either.

991.2 is a seven speed and probably the worst modern manual porsche

991.2 GTS has very noticeable turbo lag

the 992 7 speed is a better and there is less turbo lag

honestly I would go CT5 V blackwing manual if I were you, I would take that over a 991.2 GTS any day if I needed a fun manual car with a back seat

its big but it hides it well, very comfortable ride, immense power

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you. Wife with the family SUV, me with the 2+2 sports car. I also take my little ones around occasionally, and they like the M2 as a change of pace from the X5 (both figuratively and literally )!

The fact your considering a 911, makes me think you want to keep the same size car, and not go to a compact sedan like an M3 or CT4 BW. If you keep the same formula, finding something better than the M2 at this would be hard. A 911 seems obvious, but the rear seats seem far less usable than the M2.

I would consider a G87 6MT a single car to replace your F87. Or take the two-car approach with one as a dedicated toy, and another as a daily driver. Here is a 911 or Cayman, and a sporty compact SUV or sedan will suit you. Maybe a X3 or 3-series with a B58.

Let us know what you end up doing and why!

Not into the CT5 at all. Which generation of the 911 would you recommend then? I used to have a 997.1 turbo and found the shifting to not be smooth.

Define what “upgrade” means to you.

yeah I get it CT5 is not for everyone

If you can swing it, the 992 is a great all rounder, the manual is decent, sounds good with the sports exhaust, decent ride

if you could swing a cpo 992.1 S 7 speed I think you would be quite happy with it

I don't think they are that much more than a 991.2 GTS
