It's a large bumpstop and obviously designed to compress & absorb impact but I wonder how much testing they do on bad roads, doing laps of the Ring (provided you stay on the bitumen) or driving autobahns you'll never experience the bad rebound. Maybe the oem set-up is relying too much on the bumpstop and not the spring to slow compression as the limit approaches. My Ohlins spring rates are 78Nm front & 160Nm rear, they are stiffer than the oem springs but the ride is a lot smoother, really noticeable over bad roads where now the car stays quite flat compared to before when it would be up/down and I'd be moving side to side in driver seat. Our Covid restrictions eased so I did a 400km country drive a few days ago, 1st with the Ohlins and I don't think I bottomed out in rear once, certainly didn't feel like I did which is a 1st for those roads in the M2. |

It could depend of many things, springs moving while turning and hitting bumps wich is worse with certain camber plate designs. It could also be play in the Ohlins shock when they used a different design bushing for some time. It could be a bad install, top nut not tight enaugh, shock collar etc. all this can be worse or less depending on tires you have, strut bracing, bushing wear and indexing. Noises could be fully normal too. I think the most important thing when you get an aftermarket suspension if your not doing the work yourself (if you what your doing of course) is to find a good reputable installer that as a lot of experience with the brand suspension your looking at. I spoke on the phone with 3dm Motorsports owner (Ohlins specialist and rebuilder) yesterday for 30min. It was by far the best thing I did to understand what was happening with my setup, 30min on the phone was worth 30 hours of forum browsing !

I should think you'd be safe buying Ohlins now as the bushing issue is known and acknowledged (& no doubt fixed for future sales). I'm very happy with their performance otherwise plus it takes literally 4 minutes to adjust all 4 dampers for track or spirited drive. |

Not been in an M2C or driven one but after brace retrofit to my OG I felt the front suspension work and that feeling of course went into the chassis. Steering was a little better but I noticed the suspension/chassis response first.

It has been searched troughoutly that the only difference is the front brace and the weight of the heavier engine/brakes, that is the only difference suspension and chassis wise between the OG M2 and M2C.

Yes it's widely spreaded like that, but when you drive it you may feel the huge difference. I'm not sure what causes it, but M2C feels much more stable in the high speed andmore refined in all conditions of roads. And the idea about M2C and OG M2 uses same damper has not been proved clearly. Some says that BMW engineers has recalibrated the damper for the increased weight of M2C.
