Faster in a straight line? Hellcat or P100D.
M2 is so much more than just a straight line dragster. |

I had an E92 M3, DCT, competition package -- Sold it, as a friend insisted on having it and paid good price
I bought F87 M2, MT, manual seats, I configured it to be basic -- The car is so much fun, love it ! But now I wish to have E92 M3 again... Both are fantastic ! M2 with some upgrades is quicker on a straight line and also more agile on the twisties; E92 M3 is more classy inside, has a better engine sound Have 1 of each |

Stock for stock, M2 feels much faster and is faster. I never managed to do below 13s in 1/4 with my e90 in 6 years. But my m2 does 12.5-12.7 constantly when stock.

I owned an E90 M3 and have driven M2 and the latter is certainly more torquey. At the wheels the HP between the two is fairly close but torque is a good 100 ft-lbs difference. They do drive differently with the M3 coming alive 5k-8.4k RPMs and the M2 alive between 3k-6k RPMs but torque is available down low. From a 60 mph roll they'll be neck and neck. From a dig the M2 might have a small edge depending on traction of each. The M2 feels subjectively faster.
I'll be moving on from my M235i in 2018 and I'm constantly struggling between which experience I want but mostly I lean toward E9x M3 again. I like the size and interior more on the M3 but I don't like that it is aging and has an engine that is terribly expensive to replace if you are one of the unlucky ones with rod bearing or main bearing failure. However, they ain't ever gonna make a motor like the S65 again. At least not one that I could afford. |

Get the BE bearings, they have greater tolerances than the OEM. They are very popular right now and back ordered like two months. |

After having 8 years with E92 M3 6MT i also switched to the M2 LCi DCT. I also have M4 zcp in my garage.
Except from the engine sound i think M2 is much better in every aspect. The stock setup for M2 is perfect (even from the M4). The thing grips the road better, the torque is there at anytime you need, it feels nimbler, the size is perfect for daily driving, engine is much more reliable (i replaced the S65 on my M3 too) , steering feel is fantastic, brakes are so. Plus you get lower mpg, car with 100kg less, better technology and lower service costs. The noise from S65 definetly better but N55 in M2 also sounds good. I only miss front PDC from my 2008 M3 and wont look back for it. Besides from car collection purposes i dont see any reason for buying E92 M3. |

I don't recall a single person stating that the M2 steering feel is better than the E9x M3, and I don't think that you are stating that either. How subjectivity different/better is the M3 steering? The M3 hydraulic feel is better...the more precise/direct M2 steering is better. These are my guesses as I never drove an E9x M3.
