The engine is clearly the star of the show, but it's fairly well rounded.

small, nimble, great handling and looks not to shabby either. Gets me in & out of traffic (on 405 especially) quick.

I had the Z4M but prefer the M2C, it's simply too much fun...

I nearly walked into a wall going into the gym after the third time looking back at her today. It's the first car I've owned where visually, less was more in terms of its styling.

For me it the form and function. If I can't look back like a silly kid, is it really worth it?

So I take it a G87 isn't in your future?

I've been doing some renos to the house and haven't been able to take the car out for three days now...withdrawal symptoms are as follows:

Depression
Anxiety
Anger
Frustration
Jealousy (my wife won't let me drive hers)

I'm thinking Lorazepam...

As much as I love the S58 I just cannot agree with the design options that its mated with. The G8x design just doesn't wow me and I've driven a few to give it a fair comparison and yes driving dynamics of course BMW is going to improve on that generation to generation by styling is subjective. G87 I drove recently certainly did drive well but eh, I just didn't get that satisfaction looking back at it.

The G80/82 at least has that road presence that many talk about but just about all M cars do. It's when you get in close for the details that it doesn't vibe with me. I could stare at a 718 on my phone with no perception of depth and drool over it. If I'm not doing that before seeing it in person well I know myself lol, it probably just isn't for me.

Do you foresee it in your future?

Lol at the withdrawal symptoms man I feel you there, I'm currently coding away while I have a chair in the driveway and my second lady right next to me. Pinnacle work from life day on my end

Almost bought a G82 but because my spare garage has an angle on the end it wouldn't fit which really highlighted the size and I don't like big cars.

Given my car history the M2C could be considered biggish...so I doubt a G87 is in my future but I will test drive one.

The M2C reminds me of my tuned 1M and that's a good thing for me anyway...

m2ss Totally get you there, when looking back at the e36/39, the size of cars had to grow to accommodate the engineering efforts being put in. I had a feeling when the G series came along, the M3 would grow to the point of being on par with an M5 of some 15 years ago.

I do believe we're at the point where it will taper off in terms of the noticeable dimension gains but what also has been growing and will continue as the hybrid transition happens is the weight which as I see your garage history, you do certainly like them small and nimble and a tuned 1M, life must have been good

What's your take on the more recent Porsche lineup? I do like the 718's I must say it's just the x87 on the BMW platform has that daily drivability that I don't think I could find in a 718.

So I've owned many p-cars (my wife can't stand the obsession) and then for her switched out of the TT to an R8 Spyder which I sold last Nov for over $40k (CAD) what I paid.

For the driving experience the 718 (I had the 4pot S version) is far more nimble but definitely not a daily. The 992 is nice but prices are nuts.

I did look at a 718 Spyder (the wife would accept it) and loved it overall but still not a daily and should be on a track to extract the fun curve, same for the GTS for that matter.

I'm leaning towards keeping my F87C and adding a 991.2 TT again, that car was sound. I will be looking at what the 718 EV is all about but I'm not holding my breadth...

m2ss Great job on the that nice 40k CAD profit on the R8 Spyder, we'll never see another used car market like this in our lifetimes lol. I hear you on the 718 sentiments, I contemplated on getting a GT3 before getting the F87 but prices were and still are where they are so I opted to just split the money and get a fun car and invest the rest.

The 718 Spyder did catch my eye also but it would be more of a track focused thing as how you're pondering a 991.2 TT again.

Lol at not holding your breath there, I want to give the EV variant a fair chance as I've been fair to BMW with their new hybrids for the 5 series for the day that we do expand our family beyond myself and the lady.

I've been avoiding the track to some extent to not go down that rabbit hole too deep but I already have Öhlins and camber plates + tune that I did to enjoy the canyon experiences but I've also been to the track twice and it was truly a fun time.

I'll just hold my liquid reserves for now and watch the market correction in the coming months to reinvest, toys will go and come.

Wow, I did the same thing when I sold the R8.

I looked at the GT3 Touring but refuse to pay the inflated nonsense.

I'll bide my time until this mkt stabilizes and then reassess.

didn't want to start a thread, so maybe this is an appropriate place to leave this observation/opinion.

totally by chance stumbled across a new G87 today, for the very first time, in person.

when I first saw just the front end, my immediate reaction was, "Oh, there's a new M4". When I saw the whole thing it still took me a second to process it was the new M2.

Honest kneejerk, visual-only reaction: I didn't dislike it as much as I thought I would, still HATE the back end and it looks (without a side-by-side comparison) noticeably larger than my M2C.

it was chalk grey, 6sp with carbon seats.

a couple of hours later as I walked up to my white M2C, I thought to myself - "yeah, my sh!t is better".

I had mine next to a G87 BSM and actually liked them both but preferred my dimensions, how can you not love that face...

I came from a m135i 3 door, MT.

For me it is simply a jack of all trades.
Bmw have managed to make a car that can drift, and corner.

The sound with equal length is simply insane.

The wide stance, and short wheelbase makes it so nimble.
Tuning the car, and suspension mods make this car faster than the 991 gt3rs out of corners on track.

The car is very good at receiving mods, and you can make it as wild as you want.

Incredible value for the money, I've spent 30k € in perf/track mods and I feel it is a beast.

Best mods are, wider tires, equal length, and dual mount diff brackets.

I'm running 265/30/19 and 285/30/19 PS4S on standard rims. They are soft compared to Michelin supersport, but they do their job good on track as well.
On track I have Protrack wheels front 10x18 with 265/30 and rear 11×18 with 295/30 Nankang AR-1 tires.

Somewhat related to this thread, but I finally spotted a brother in motion, out in the wild today.

First thoughts in my mind were "That's what I look like from the outside? Hot damn!"

Most aggressive looking BMW on the road, by far. I always thought the rear end was the car's weakest point but in motion it's a sight to behold. The context of motion really highlights the car's already aggressive attributes.
