No question the SO stands out more. I was tempted to get because it reminded me of the 1M. I ended up getting LBB because I was worried I might tire seeing SO more than LBB over time. Both colors are great, so you'll be very happy with either one. It does surprise me how many unsolicited compliments on LBB color.

One thing to remember is color is subjective. If you are bold, or outgoing, SO may be more attractive to you. If you plan on selling the car, SO may be a negative. More generic, subdues or common colors are easier for someone to compromise on. I chose SO, and none of the others were ever a consideration, but I lan on keeping my M2C for a long time, and I’m a bit of an iconoclast.

Maybe. But for a buyer looking to pick up a used M2C, the majority will be HS. SO will be a rare find. So I wouldn't sweat it too much. Valencia Orange doesn't seem to have brought down the resale value on the 1M.

But I, like you, plan on keeping mine for as long as possible. Even 1.5 yrs into ownership, there's not a single new car out there that offers the same combination of MT, RWD, and usable backseats.

Most talk about car colors when it comes to bright sunlight. However, at night time, I believe is when SO is at its best. The red tones (hues?) start to really pop out.

SO is a lot more fun than the Sapphire Blue I had on my previous GT4.

You're breaking my heart a bit here, as I am really liking the color, but have never seen it in real life. I imagined it to be pretty terrible on cloudy days, and fantastic on sunny days, and at sunset, but I know the limitations of camera sensors well, so I'm not sure about that.

Trust me, it's really beautiful in so many different angles. My first test drive was the SO on a clear sunny day. After the drive, I almost made an offer but I still had to see LBB live. LBB was the first choice, and that's what I got.

Long Beach Blue can look Teal or Purple

Sunset Orange can look Copper

Hockenheim Silver can look Gray or White/Blue

All of these colors are meant to have different personalities in different light.

Take a look at the pictures IND took of my car when I first got it.

Their photographer really needs to work on his white balance. Hard to tell any color with so much blue in places it doesn't belong.

I only like Sunset Orange in the sun, personally. I prefer Sakhir Orange as there is less brown in the color. I would go for LBB personally for this reason. It's still a nice color, it's just not my personal preference.

So I have HS. But if I had to do it all over again, and it's between LBB and SO, it would be SO hands down. Much more of a unique color on the road and it certainly pops very well in the light. Even better with CF accents, which I think looks better than on LBB.

SO is quite challenging to accurately photograph and capture its nuances.
It is far more interesting in the sun than shade but I wouldn't call it ugly.

Over the years I've owned many BMWs starting with the silvers, grays, blacks and whites. Lately I have been on a kick to get something different such as the Long Beach Blue X4, a Mediterranean Blue M550i and now the SO M2C. I like the LBB M2C but knew SO would be more unique.

Haha no! I'm just saying between LBB and SO and I had to chose between either 🤣.

I love how HS hides my dirt and rock chips better

LBB is the same, and really, harder. It's because of blue. In the SO pix you can simply remove 80% of the blue to show something closer to what your eye would really see...but you can't do that with LBB.

It took me about 15 seconds to remove most of the blue from both of these pix.

Then there is VisualEcho who makes me rethink choices depending on what picture he posts. Damn he sucks 🤣🙏, confusing me all the time @[

Just try to visit a dealership and see a SO 2 series or X2 that's outside if you can find one and decide if it's for you or not. Pictures may always be misleading. It's not a bad color, though, so I don't think you would end up with major regrets. None of the M2C colors are dealbreakers for me, personally.

The only M2C within ~200 miles for me to test drive was an SO and I definitely thought it looked a lot better in person. Still not the color for me and I went with LBB. Although I'd rather it were more like the San Marino Blue, I do like it a lot and get plenty of compliments. Like the SO the LBB looks different depending on the lighting. For instance, that same dealer only had one LBB vehicle and it was an X5M. It was in the showroom under the florescent lighting and I was NOT a fan. It looked far too teal for my liking. Sure, there are times my LBB looks like that but it's not all the time and obviously on a much smaller scale than the X5M and if I find it really starts to bother me I'll do what a couple others have done here and go with a 3M Blue Raspberry wrap that's close to the San Marino Blue.
