Got blindsided by $5k markup from local dealer. Was not expecting. I am also on another dealer's list but had not heard from them. I knew my dealer already had two other people interested. Been waiting for this car for 1 1/2 years, so I consented with some comments made. Bitter sweet to some degree.
Which dealer??? Sounds like we are working with the same one....

I know of two dealers right now with msrp allocations that have been available for a week.

If i didn’t have 10k of equity in my f80 m3 I’d do it, but terrified of taking a bath on this car and all signs are pointing to similar depreciation at least initially to the m3 cs and m4 cs/gts

Maybe in ten years after a handful of these have been crashed etc you might have a gem on your hands but who’s planning that far ahead on a car

Also the g80 is being revealed next week, that new power plant might be more attractive to some than the analog driving experience, so that might have an affect on sales as well. However, the more I’m seeing from bmw the less likely we’re ever going to get another car from them like the m2 cs or comp even, the new ones are hideous

Yea, the number of sticker price allocations certainly suggests something. Interestingly, there seems to be quite a few standard M2C allocations available as well. 6 here, 3 there, 5 here, etc. I think, at least for markets not impacted by emissions changes, the F87 will make up a significantly larger portion of F22/23/87 output in the final year, with BMW likely thinking it's a way to drive up margins at the end of production, because lord knows we're not seeing terribly high numbers on 230/240 models. Even if they have to throw money or incentives at the late stage F87 cars, they probably come out ahead on margins. That said, one does have to wonder if holding back the US CS release until after summer was a tactical error. We shall see.

Just cancelled my M2CS allocation today, got a message from my dealer that....

"Hockenheim Silver, w/manual tranny

Told them I'll take an M2C instead! I'll let someone else has the $$ to enjoy it.

My M2C specs:
-HS with Manual Tranny
-Orange stitching w/CF
-Black wheels w/Executive package
-No sunroof
=$61,645

The CS price is exactly as known for the last year, so I'm not sure the surprise there.

Damn, that's crazy. When did they release the pricing??? Definitely not worth the price of admission. M2 Comp is just as good for way less. I wish someone had brought this up sooner so we could have had some discussion about the pros and cons of C vs CS, and whether it's worth the price.

As a business man, I don't think the $85K justifies the car. I have nothing against the CS, I was hoping for it to be mid $70s, but did not expect it to be mid $80s. So I'll let someone else enjoy it
PS: and I'm not going to make the M2C looks like the CS

Yes I did saw the price leaked, but can't trust everything when it was still speculating!

I can't make up my mind between the F87 M2 CS and the G82 M4 Manual.

I am giving myself till Monday to pull the trigger on the M2 CS @ MSRP or give up my spot in line to #2.

Misano Blue, Manual, Black Wheels, Steel Brakes, non-Cups - week 48 build.

Depends on what you're looking for in a car. I think if get an 850i before an m4.

I never got to see this, pricing that I heard was strictly from forum members guessing around!

Ah! Bummer you never saw it. It was linked at the start of the big 100 page mega thread that listed the price for the car. The thread initially had the speculated price, but then was updated with the official announcement when it came out. If you missed that it got official that'd make sense why you thought it was still rumor.

Thankfully BMW M even put up a handy dandy page covering all of the differences so we could completely nitpick everything.
