They don’t seem to be doing as well as the C7R teams did, but this is their first year out and almost everyone else has raised the bar.

They aren't cherry picked. The C8.R has won 5 of 8 races in its class this year. For its first year that's extremely impressive. I honestly thought the new RSR would give it better competition than what it has.

Stitching line up is so bad and acceleration 3.6 instead of 2.9 official

YT comments say the car isn't past the 500 mile break-in, but JFC that stitching is incredibly bad. I would never be able to live with that, it would drive me nuts.

The distortion in stitching does suck but I guess something has to give at the price point, fit and finish. Luckily Chevy offers to fix those defects for free. The car was also in the break in period which cuts power and does not allow the car to rev beyond 4500 RPM. The fact that it got 3.6 0-60 and 11.6 1/4 mile under those conditions is pretty impressive to be honest.

There was something weird with a few of those, it had me all nervous and I was checking the stitching on my 2SS 1LE, but there was nothing similar, mine was all straight. That had to be some kind of crazy fluke at the factory or supplier.

Z06 spy shot.

I'd imagine the Z06 and E-Ray will be announced Q1/Q2 next year.

They are still having quality issues coming out of the factory. And now the factory has been shut down again so some of the 3000 orders promised for 2020 may become 2021s. I’m sincerely glad I got my deposit back and got the 911. I would still get a C8 but I will see if they sort the issues out.

My 2021 C8 deposit was accepted by one of the nation's largest Corvette dealers. I am #777 on their waitlist. The long wait begins, hopefully delivery will be less than 1 year away.

Update- The C8R won the GTLM manufacturers title even before the last race of the season(Sebring). The C7R didn’t win it all in its debut season, the C6R did though. C8R is well on its way to a stellar racing history.

Yep, amazing platform. Unfortunately the racing team’s results don’t directly correlate to build quality from the factory. I still get emails from one of the big dealers and I asked them if they were talking about the build quality issues and he said it was being discussed every day but the pandemic has forced them to use alternate suppliers in some cases which is why you’re seeing separating lining on the hardtop convertibles, broken valve springs within a few hundred miles, various other faults. Unfortunately though other issues like the frunk, ghost CELs and trim and body misalignment issues were going on before they had supplier issues. I sold my C7 some time after I got on the C8 list, but am glad I got the Porsche instead. I’d be pissed if I had all those problems with my $80k car. Yes, I did pay more for the Porsche but I am out driving it instead of it being in the shop on a lift or having to go through a lemon law process.

I was just responding to your post solely about the R version but anyway, it is a first year revolutionary new platform for the company and GM had a strike at the worst possible time then covid hit, a perfect storm if you will.

I’m confident GM will work the bugs out soon enough( if covid can be brought under control with vaccines) and will be very good contenders on both the street and track. Lemon law Corvettes are rare, we’ve had one person here who’s had one of those nightmare scenarios with his C7 but it’s not across the board. There are other sports cars getting lemoned and having issues, it’s not just a Corvette thing. I’m involved in Corvette forums and the vast majority of owners don’t have anything near those kinds of problems and are if they do the company responds much better then what we’ve read here about that one C7.

The brand new base street version C8 is already giving the 992 S headaches on tracks. I look forward to the Z versions of the cars, they will be owning cars worth many thousands more and do so with few issues. My C6 makes over 625 hp, is driven very hard often and has been pretty much bulletproof, knock wood.
Enjoy your Porsche, it is a very nice ride indeed.

Yeah, I wouldn't be that concerned about 1st year issues either. Most cars won't have them and the ones that do will get fixed.

At this early stage, I'd be much more worried that the car itself was a failure but GM seems to have handled the transition to MR layout just fine.

I have a 2016 C7 Z07 and love the car. I figure it will be 2022 or 2023 before a another Corvette C8 will tempt me out of my C7. I refuse to pay the get in price for new cars. I bought my 2016 C7 Z07 in 2018 with 6,450 miles for $68,500. The car stickered for over $112,000 & was still in warranty till 2020. Same story with my 2016 BMW 750 X drive, stickered for over $108,000 and I bought it for $42,000 with less than 20,000 miles. Not that I can't afford it just seems less than bright to pay the get in price.

Saving money makes you smart. That's how I've been buying cars for over 20 years and dozens of cars.
