Cant sweat over warranty. All my BMWs have been very solid cars, and required routine maintenance after warranty. And even something big once in a while is cheaper than constantly buying new cars.

I *really* wanted an E92 M3 in the worst way. Same with the E46. I would buy one right now if I had the chance and the car was treated well and only had one owner. That is becoming a rare occurrence and some of the pricing reflects it.

But when those cars were new on the lots, I had little kids that needed car seats, and I needed a commuter to pile miles on, and that was the real deal killer. I can't cope with heaping miles on a car that I love so much, so I just went without. Things changed for me as well, and I saw my opening for this car, so I went for it.
If you like having to drive the shit out if an engine and induction noise, go get an e9X m3 right now. The only thing new that's similar is mustang gt350, maybe the new Z06 but no MT, and Porsche gt cars.

A good e9X m3 is only getting harder to find and I feel prices are creeping up, especially the one owner or low mile cars. It's a pretty good deal right for what you get as far as performance an luxury.

Do you plan to get the "extended warranty" or is that not worth it?

Agreed!

I have had 11 brand new BMW's. Nothing but a few small issues. M, Z, X models.

What sort of routine maintenance did you carry out to help with longevity?

Usually a quick trip to the dealer to replace the car with a newer model. Nothing crazy, really.

Honestly it's for piece of mind. I personally never buy extended anything. I buy the car and drive off, no extras for me. My thinking is that the seller (dealer/underwriter) will most likely come ahead. You roll the dice and hope you aren't the minority that actually uses the warranty a lot, and maybe save the money you were going to spend on the extended warranty for a rainy day. It's really up to you.

I initially leased my car for 4 years thinking I'd trade it in for a G80 M3 and do European delivery again, but now that they've cancelled that I think I'm gonna keep the M2C for a long time.

...and also now that the G80 is heavier and looks like it does.

Interesting thought, I do want to keep mine for a bit longer or until I can get a p car. So was just wondering any maintenance I need to do besides the regular services that the car asks for.

I think the M2CS will most likely become the crown jewel of the newer semi-analog BMWs. The good news for M2C owners is that the M2C is a very close second that can run the M2CS tune. The older they get, the more condition and mileage will be a value factor. I think the higher price if the CS is just value insurance for M2C owners.
Long story short...the M2C is a keeper.

I don't think you need to do anything. Personally I change the oil mid cycle (5000 miles) since I plan to keep mine.

I was actually thinking the same when I picked up the M2C, this could be a placeholder until the new M3 comes out, fast forward now & I rather not get the new M3. Mainly because for that price point + the looks I rather pick up a used low mileage 991.2 CS. Yes the new M3 has got decent more power, but I don't want to buy a car that has a look that grows on you.

I'm going to pick up a second car as DD so I don't a lot of miles on the M2C. I want the M2C for fun miles.

I've only had two oil changes, run-in & first service at 18k, in the last two years. May do more frequent oil changes as you do. Thanks!

Every mile in an M2 is a fun mile, or should I say that every other car will feel like a boring POS. So just enjoy the hell out of your M2. At the 1 year mark, through COVID, and I'm at 7k ish miles already

Use the car, the M2C only gets better with more mileage. And after all, it is just a car meant to be driven.

I was about to say I did 10k in my first year, mainly because of a big road trip in the summer around Europe, but 7k during lock-down is a fair amount.

The second car I'm looking for is a BMW E38 7 series or a MB W140/W123 or maybe an older mx5. Yes I know these are not reasonable daily cars.

I justified my upgrade from OG to M2C due to the fact that it will be a long term project/keeper car. I'm still due to replace my GT4, but I am not sure with what. For now, I will look forward to building my m2c and keeping my mind open to what will be the next garage companion.

I'm pretty sure the M2 even sounds like that when slamming the shifter into 3rd...or whatever.

Keeping it.
Just bought out the lease after 14mos because I like the car so much.
Warranty? Going out the window this winter when I do all the mods.
It's not the fastest car, or the best track car, or the prettiest car, but it is truly fun to drive and a practical DD (in the summer).
