Not my car but I just can't help it. From the picture, the M2 is way too fat(non-fixable) and tall.
It's ridiculous. Should almost be a "buyer aware" that the family big merc sedan/coupe looks sleeker and more like a sports car by comparison.

I like it for what it is and honestly, to me, the shape is unique and sets it apart from the other BMW's. BMW offers many many more models, so if it's not your cup of tea, find one that is.

Here's a picture of my A5, since the OP referenced the A5 in his original message. Yes, the car is very sleek and has amazing road presence. The 5-series and 7-series Audi vehicles all have amazing road presence, mostly due to their low and wide look.
I agree that the M2 has more of a stubby and tall look, but it's not like a 4x4 or anything. I do wish it were a little more low & wide looking though... |

the car has a bulldog stance and proportions.
not sure why you would buy it if you didn't like those things... it should be the first thing you notice. if you want a longer and leaner bodyline the M4 is out there for you, but comparing the M2's sizee vs. a cayman's is pretty unfair |

Useless thread...is useless. I don't even see the point here? Don't like the way the car looks? Don't buy one. You like the way something else looks...buy it. So many people worried about what others think on here. Geez. You think my M2 is a fat, stubby porker, good for you....I don't care. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

the bulkiness and wide fenders are one of the reasons why I bought my M2. a person came up to me to ask if it was a "kit car". Told him it's a M car from BMW.

The point of the thread is to discuss one area of the m2 that no one seems to have mentioned. Now that it's approaching towards the end of production. I myself didn't even notice it in the first 2 years of ownership and I was shocked when I did.
I'm sure and already anticipate all these newer comers/owners who would feel unhappy about someone mentioning it. I've said way too much great things about the car. And now all those innocents making such comments. It's a joke. Would I do it all over again? No. But that's not because of the chunky body, but the fact that M2C comes in a cheap way as it did which damage the value of original M2. How much those new owners know about the car, I don't see much. But I clearly see that the innocents are thrilled about the purchase and are being defensive.

Wide body is gorgeous. Tall body is not. E46 coupe (not sedan pay attention) is sleek.

If you want a wide, low and sleek car, we have corvette for you. BMWs are never meant to be that. I buy flying bricks for a reason.

Lol.. So what you're saying is that since YOU didn't notice the "chunkiness" of the M2 for TWO years, that nobody else does either? That makes absolutely no sense. Even as what you call a "new comer", the odd proportions are what I noticed right away. How can you go for two years and not see that it is uniquely different? I came from a C7 Vette... Trust me, I noticed. It just seems to upset you that you are more bothered by it than others. If I didn't like it, I would have found something else. I sure wouldn't have stared at it for 2 years thinking... Hmm... what's going on here?

I think the OP needs to remember that all M cars begin as...series cars, or a 2er in this case. It's not like they can chop off the roof and start over with a sleeker or more race-car profile.
It definitely is a "taller" car, compared to my F80 for example. But the OP's gripe is essentially with the 2er, not the M2, because that level of change would be associated with a completely different model, not an M version of the 2er. PS - I love the M2, and think it looks great. It's a spunky, bulldog, aggressive-looking badass. Does it sit higher than my M3? Yes. Do I give two shits? No.

These cars aren't wives...dont like it, get rid of it. It's much easier to get rid of a car that you think is fat than a wife who is fat. Still sticking with my original statement. This thread is pointless. Guy buys car...after two years of not actually looking at the car, wakes up and looks at the car and realizes its tall and porky...points it out to everyone....who already knew and liked the way it looked.

Yes, it has a too-tall greenhouse and doesn’t look as sporty in person in comparison to F82. Its not a surprise. The 1er and 2er are always going to be this way. The pros outweigh the cons.

Honestly, I'd do unspeakable things for an actual hatchback version of the M2.

Someone should photoshop an M2 with a slightly lower greenhouse and no other changes. I bet it would look great.

I've always thought of BMW's as a bit boxy. Even with the E36, when other cars were curvy and swoopy, BMW was about function. I personally like the lines of the M2, and the functionality of the design.
