Can a lithium battery be installed in an M2C? Has anyone tried it? Curious to know how it would change the weight balance of the car...

I'm sure it can be. I would estimate 20lbs at least.

The 763Ms are collectively worth 20lbs.+ I believe, which is the equivalent of 60-80lbs. static weight loss.

763m set 19 inch all around cuts 17lbs compared to the 788m. I switched to 763m and upgraded the rubber to 255/275 PS4S tires which was 4 lbs heavier than the oem tires. 12-13lbs unsprung saved and it still made a noticeable difference.

jdub486! How are the new MPS4s working for you? Any rubbing in the wheel wells at all?

I was thinking of getting MPS4s, and going 265/30/19 up front and 295/30/19 in rear.

Would love to hear your experience so far!

Have not noticed any rubbing, but I’ve only put 650 miles on the new setup. MPS4S is a bit quieter than the PSS and rides a bit softer. It feels grippier, but maybe a bit less feedback in the steering. Most vendors recommended against 265/295 on the stock wheels. Depends on your intended use of the car and how much power you plan to run.

Oh, didn't know that that sizing was recommended against. Do you know why they would recommend against that?

Just figured that it would provided additional grip, though at the cost of lower ride comfort with smaller sidewalls - going from 35 down to 30.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

It can be done. But 295 is pretty big on a 10 inch wheel. I chatted with Apex wheels and Dinan. Dinan puts a 285/30/19 on their forged 10.5 inch rear wheel. I think a 285/30 would be great on the m2, but Michelin does not make a PS4S in 285/30. Alex recommenced 255/275 but mentioned a 285/35 rear would be ok a for a street driven car but not ideal for the track due to sidewall support being less than ideal. Bmw put 255/275 on the m3 and m4 with the same 437m wheels which also match the 788m and 763m.

Which vendor recommends against it and what's their reasoning?

Firstly, 265 for front 9" wide wheels and 295 for rear 10" wide wheels are perfectly fine and within the manufacturer's approved range (feel free to check TireRack). M3/M4 Comp has the same 9" wide front wheels and they come with 265s. Additionally, F10 M5 comes with 295s on 10" wide rear wheels from the factory. 265/30/19 front and 295/30/19 rear (PSS or PS4S) have no problem on stock wheels as it's been tested by several M2 owners so far. A ton of M3/M4 owners even run 275s on 9" wide front wheels.

Edit: Just read your post above so ignore my question above. Still not buying 295 being too much 10" wheel though as it's within the aprived range and even BMW did it on F10 M5. Also my comments are mainly for street setup. I wouldn't run 30sidewall on the track.

First, I’m no expert. Just relaying info I obtained. 295 is fine on a 10 inch wheel, but probably at the end of the acceptable range. Same for 265 on a 9 inch. My comments were specific to the m2 which has less room for rubber. Dinan who is probably conservative runs a 285 on a 10.5 inch rear on the m2. I’ve seen 295/30 on a 10 inch wheel on e92 m3 and it looked a bit muffin top esque. I didn’t want to have any potential rubbing issues on a brand new car so I went for the safe play 255/275. And the slight bit of extra sidewall height looks good. I’ll add some pics of my setup later.

Agreed... I immediately felt the difference leaving the lot with the 763Ms installed.

None of my comments were directed towards you personally. Sorry if it felt that way. I was mainly reffering to those vendors' comments. And yes, you are right about the looks. 295s on 10" wheels look exactly as you described but it's all cosmetic. 265/30 and 295/30 on stock wheels don't rub on the M2 so no clearance issues. 255/275 is definitely an improvement over the stock. However, I still think it's not enough rubber even for stock power level. Going from 285 to 295 on my M4 (similar power and same torque) made a huge difference in terms traction and putting the power down.

So allowing 55 extra pounds for the DCT, a manual should come out to about 3525 lb. or 1599 kilos. I don't know if yours is a euromodel with OPF, it could make a slight difference.
