I still don't understand the bms clutch stop. It's just a quarter in further for the pedal and as someone who drives stick for 6 years it can't be that bad.

Was my first official mod.

That 1/4" inch makes one hell of a difference by eliminating that dead travel.

It makes more of a difference than it would seem. I'm sure someone who understood physics better than an English major could explain, but it makes a very noticeable difference. I did it a month in and remember being very happy with it. Now I don't remember how it used to be. For $10 it's worth trying it.

And it takes a full 3-5 minutes to install it if you wipe down your pedals while you're there. Cheap and super simple install: why not try?

It makes the "floor" for the clutch not as low. I.e. the down-throw travel of the pedal is shortened. This then makes less distance on the uptake as well though.

Thanks. Never something I'd consider but based on the crazy Iove in this forum it's certainly worth $10

I personally don't have one because I don't want to give BMW any reason to try to blame me for clutch wear. I wouldn't want the stop to prevent the pedal from going down enough to fully pull the clutch away from the flywheel.

Also, I have no problem with the stock clutch feel, I love it compared to my old Audi, so I haven't screwed with it because it feels fine to me... even for $10. Change for change's sake makes no sense.

It took me longer to find and turn on the flashlight app on my phone than to install this mod! Pull out the rubber nipple, push in the BMS clutch stop. Only tools you need for this job you were born with...finger and thumb.

Now if only it would stop snowing so I could try it out, lol

Probably closer to 3/4 inch, while not sounding like a lot, it is definitely noticeable when driving.

Valid concern, as I had same thoughts early on. Checked here, plus bimmerfest forums. This clutch stop has been used for years by BMW drivers and I couldn't find an issue of abnormal clutch wear on either forum. Check post #97 below.

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1260588&page=5

I agree with your concerns, if you're happy with the clutch feel, don't bother changing it. And yes, a BMW dealer could possibly use it as a reason to deny a claim. My 370Z pedal throw is noticeably shorter (even with the clutch stop on the M2) and picks up about the same (as the M2 with clutch stop) from the floor, so definitely a keeper for me.

Back on topic, I use the tray insert for my sunglasses all the time with the exception of valet parking. Hidden drop down tray on the lower left of steering wheel works fine for that.

^^ that hidden tray to the left only exists if you didn't get Exec pack. In the Exec pack, they put the two safety buttons over there and completely delete that storage cubby...

I was pissed to find out after the fact that the smokers package DELETE is an option. All cars seem to come with the smokers package unless it is deleted. I would think it would be an add-on, but nope.

I'm confused what angers you here. Yes, all NA cars come with it and for $20 CAD you can instantly delete it without even a screwdriver. Why does that anger you? Sounds like a sweet benefit.

I supposed what pissed, not angered me, was that the CA didn't go over with me the fact I could delete it. I would have.

You still can. The part is $20 and is a 5 second swap

Race spec cars have ridiculously low clutch engagement points and are heavy, acting more like on/off switches than clutches. The M2 has a ridiculously high engagement point and on top of that is very light, the clutch is very similar to a Honda Civic. The clutch on the M2 is the only gripe I have with the car. It’s very unsports car feeling.

The clutch stop takes a significant amount of that travel away and is hands down the best bang for the buck mod.

Ah crap, really? That's one of my favorite storage spots in the entire car.

Any idea if a retrofit is possible?
