That someone would even pay for such a thing is just, well, beyond me. No disrespect though, to each their own, but they certainly detract from the elegance of the car, just like all the mud-flaps I see people putting on their car. Yeah, I get it, function, but damn, the car is so beautiful as-is.

Exactly what *is* the function? Other to comply with some regulation or other?

They're not really in a position to do *anything*-- honestly, you really can't even call them "mudflaps".

Yeah, they reasoning is in one of the CS threads. They're homologated for noise regulation in some 3rd world country, so everybody gets them. Stupidity.

They aren't called mud-flaps, they're called "wheel arch flarings."

I wonder if they would look good in body colour? but seeing as they are rubber painting them probably isn't the best idea

Either way, mine will be going into storage on day 1.

Also anywhere you introduce an edge between the body and a trim peace, you have a new location for getting debris stuck. And over time, it also ruins the paint

Yeah I can imagine washing the car and not being able to dry underneath it properly as well as debris building up

The piece installs on top of your inner fender liners with 2 bolts that are reused. The fit of the flare on the body is tight and there are no gaps for any debris to get in.
