The price point for it currently is amazing though

looks like only 5w 30 for the LL01 FE application.
Yeah but I'm looking for the tech specs and properties of the oil so that it can be objectively compared

For example this is pennzoil's sheet: https://shell-livedocs.com/data/publ...bb117dc6d7.pdf

I'll leave it to someone more qualified than me but that appears to be just the SDS which just states composition. I'm just a casual car enthusiast but I try to find oils with the lowest noack %. Doesn't seem like Motul has published that info

Why low noack is important:

I'm not a fan - I had a very bad experience with a magnetic drain plug from ECS on my e46 M3 years back, which ultimately stripped out the threads on the oil pan.

Could have been user error but ok. Never had an issue on my 135.

So our oil pan is made of magnesium and our drain bolt is made of steel I think 🤔 or is it aluminum ?

I ask because I plan on doing Oil changes inbetween the dealer oil changes And if the pan threads are easily stripable , I don’t want to be the guy who discovers the dealer stripped my pan last oil change .

No doubt could've been user error, but from doing a little research on the old M3 forum back when this happened, it seemed like it was relatively prevalent.

Ahhh, very nice! I'm a little ways away from Lake St. Louis, but certainly in the general area.

STL typically has a pretty solid car scene, though many of the annual events and monthly cars & coffee meet-ups have been postponed due to the corona.

If you're on facebook, here's a good group to keep an eye on: https://www.facebook.com/groups/STLCARS - hopefully that link works.

How long are you in the area?

Just an update that the firework seen is even more popping than the car scene. Crazy big tents over here that would get you in prison in Cali.

Can someone familiar with using the online repair service manual (newTIS.info) explain the discrepancy of the oil change process listed on the site versus what the majority of the members here are doing?

For example, the site says:
1. Torque for the oil filter cap is 40 Nm (wrong).
2. Oil capacity 9.5 L (wrong)

I bet I am not navigating that repair manual properly, so please assist me.

Update:
I found the correct page illustrating the oil change process for the F87 M2 Competition Coupe:
A. Oil Change Process
B. Oil capacity
C. BMW Oil Type (5w-30 Longlife-01 or 0w-30 Longlife-01 FE)

Weird. Engine requires closer to 7 liters as opposed to 6.5.

I did this today and measured how much oil came out and it was right at 7 liters. I put in 7 liters, measured the oil level and it was right at max level.

Surely, it's most important to use genuine Cottontmouth oil in your weekly oil and filter change to fend off not only the effects of filling the tank with the mix of varnish and paint stripper supplied by your local gas station, but to also avoid the abrasive effects of the Diamondback oil used by main dealers?
