How about some M8 new design language grill? I like it better than the current design and IMO makes the M2 transition to the future designs from BMW...

What do you think??

@Paul-Bracq-BMW,

Absolutely! So much better this way. Perhaps the grills are a bit too tall though compared to the width. I think the M8 looks better because they have a proportionally wider look. At least the chrome/silver surround allows it to stand out as a BMW grill.

I must be out of touch with the majority because I think the grille looks just brutal whether it's new 5 series style or M8 style or upside down like the X2. At this rate why not just merge the two together and make it look like a kia grille.

Nope. You simply know shitty, forced design changes when you see them.

You're right. I slimmed the grill down in height and it looks much better proportioned. In fact I would make the car as-it...

Cheers!

Now, that's what I'm talking about! Fantastic job, PB!

If the grills really do have to touch in the middle, this is the only way to go, IMHO.

That's the trend for all car companies to have big gaping mouths. Wait until you see the X7 to see Huuuuuuuuge horrible kidneys!

On the other hand, the 8 series' kidneys, part of the new design language look great IMO...

What do you think??

Gatte,

How close does the grille look to the real thing? Proportionality to my eyes this works with the car. Hope the real thing is like this.

This slimmed down grill definitely flows better with the lines of the car than the original render. More organic imo and the original render seems forced.

Unfortunately, like I said before the actual car will have the bulkier grill... Also the original render is not an artistic one meaning that I was merely trying to make an educated guess about how the M2 Competition will look like, this for all the members of Bimmerpost. If I were a BMW designer, I would have made the grill much more like my latest render with the future 8 Series style in order to do a smooth transition from the current design language to the new. BMW decided to do otherwise and this will be seen on the future 3 series as well, which looks to have a lot of the old design language and not the more aggressive and elegant one of the 8 series (less character lines, better volume proportions, more elegance - a little bit like BMW used to do in the E46 and E39 era but updated to today). The 2 current 2 series IMO is one of the best BMW designs, but they made a mistake of making a hatch (1 series) when the RWD architecture would have been much better suited for a 4 door sedan and/or gran coupe...

The real thing is not like that. The real grille is closer to your photo-shop grille and Paul's initial photo-shop grille than this one.

This one does look good though.

I don’t want it to be catoonishly big either. :/
