Brand new car has 60kms

I know I know the dealer can sell you a new car with 90 kms or less.

I honestly have to tell you I am unhappy with My local BMW Dealer.

First brand new BMW for me and it already has 60 km on it and it was apparently only sitting in there “secured lot “ I am not sure how it accumulates so many miles sitting in a storage facility.

Not getting a brand new car with less then 10km is kinda ruining the whole experience for me and I feel like not picking the car up .

What was everybody else’s mileage when they picked up there brand new m2 competition ?

I might be a big baby lol but a brand new car to me has less then 10ks

You worried someone farted in the seat before you...? It's a new car regardless, don't be a child. Enjoy the car.

Was this car ordered for you, or did you just go into the dealership and buy it?

This used to bother me as well but once it happens enough and your car never breaks down before you trade it in for something else... you start to not care.

It's worse if it's a car you ordered!
Seen that situation happen on a 911 Turbo... delivered with 79km (WTF).
You'll get over it and the car will be fine

Maybe it's had a special run-in?

I am being a baby I just wanted a low km car .

60 kms is a lot of test drives .

I didn’t order the car i was told they have the car I want in there “secure compound “

Now I know there secure compound is most likely just another dealer in another city with the car you want .

Next time I will order one ...I will get over it but still wanted one with less then 10km .

They also needed to order new brakes for it so it delayed my delivery a bit .

If it bugs you, don't buy it. Personnaly if it's a dealer car and not an order, I would be ok with it. But I would probably refuse an order with 60km. We will see in March

60 KM seems like a couple of runs of test driving.

My car had at least 6 miles on it that can't be accounted for in the normal process. The dealership only had in their possession for about 20 hours, total, and I had ordered it. I know that someone there took it around the block a few times, and I wasn't very happy about it. I decided to let it go, though.

When I had a new front left brake caliper installed on my car an additional 35km or so was put on. They warned me so I didn't flip.

That's probably where most of the "excess" mileage comes from. Now the question becomes, why did it need new brakes?

Again, expecting less than 10km on a performance car? That'll pretty much never happen unless they forget to set the brakes or run some required tests at the factory.

Could have been test driven or they could have traded it from another dealer for some of their other stock and someone drove it there. Why not just ask them flat out why it has so many km on the odometer and then decide what you want to do?

The brakes on the other hand, what's that all about...

I actually just went by the dealer to take a peek at it . It was not at a secure facility it was a dealer car from Quebec . If I was told I was getting a dealer car I would understand . I was told it was at there “secure compound “ in Toronto not at a dealership in Quebec .

You live you learn I guess .

I may not pick it up I am in no rush it just a bit souring that’s all .

This is my 3rd BMW and two previously were ordered and arrived with 6 miles at pickup (no test drives, of course the cars were already sold). The third, the M2C was at the dealership for a few days (spec'd exactly as I'd have), had 6 miles on the odo. So for delivery to my area, 6 miles is the normal mileage from production to delivery.

If you had ordered the car, then yes anything more than 10 miles is not acceptable, but since its a car sitting on the lot (how long?) 60 is ok. That's 2-3 test drives. And hopefully the dealer goes on these drives, so the driver is not abusing. If this is a car you want, then dont worry about it.

They said it was heavily rusted from sitting outside for a couple months ...they drive it to clear off the rust but felt better to just put new rotors for me .

The thing is the car has a dealer sticker on it from another dealer ...why would another dealer put the sticker on the car if it wasn’t being driven around for advertising purposes ...just a guess ....

I could be over reacting yes but the cars they have on there lot only have 11kms on them so why would this one need to have 60 on it ...either it was there test drive mule or a salesman drive it for a bit .

Get over it. 60km is nothing. It won’t effect reliability or performance of the M2C.

Regardless of the deals, 60 km is like 38 miles which is very low. To be sure, you can have the dealer service run a report on over-revving and how the car has been driven so far (my dealer said they can see this at break-in service?). Worth an ask

This is what I was told by my dealer, not sure if possible, but apparently he told me that the service dept can see how hard the car was run before break-in.

If your purchase is contingent on this, they will make it happen (if its possible)

If I see a clean record I will probably feel better .

This honestly looks and feels like a used car purchase .

Then dont do it. Feel happy about what you get. Find a new one or order it.
