I've had to reconnect mine a few times after getting in the car with bluetooth turned off on my phone. Seems to drop it.

Did you try making your phone forget the device (car) and starting the connecting process over?

You have to wait for them to get this sorted out on their end. I had to call BMW Assist initially to get it working. They give me a temporary extension for CarPlay and told me if the subscription ends before their systems make CarPlay free to call back for another extension. Well they reneged on that when it expired on me couple of weeks ago. They said it would be another 4-6 weeks for the change to reflect in their systems and they were no longer giving out extensions. Even now when I log into ConnectedDrive it still shows CarPlay as a $300 option. The whole rollout of this seems to have been hastily planned and implemented.

I hope they figure it out soon. I miss not having to restart a podcast or audiobook every time I get off a call.

Mine magically switched to expiring in 2038 on the connected drive site last week. I haven't turned it back on in the car, but maybe I'll give another go at some point.

I couldn't get mine reconnected at first but after a couple of tries it now works.
Make sure both your car forgot the phone whilst your phone forgot the car...
Need to have both happen.

Just be patient. I received the BMW email stating that carplay is free and I have to go to Idrive and update. I did that numerous times and nothing. I waited 2 weeks and all of a sudden I saw Carplay working on Idrive again.

One way to know for sure what is wrong is log into your connected drive account on your computer. Check to see if its free or not on there? When I logged in it was not free even after receiving the BMW email. I waited 3 weeks after the email. When my Carplay started working I logged in just out of curiosity and Carplay says its free until 2038 or something.

If yours say its active until 2038ish do the update on Idrive under the options tab.
