You're spending $60k on a car. If you don't feel good about it, don't buy the car.

Personally, I would NOT buy that car without a heavy discount. Mine had like 9 miles on it and I test drove it so it had like 19 when I took it home that day. I certainly would not buy a "new" car with double digit miles.

well I signed an intent to buy a month ago with a 2g deposit and I dropped off winter tires which they already put on this car ....I argued to no end yesterday they didn’t do nothing except tell me there spending 2gs to put new brakes and that they already paided for this car ....I told the guy we’re getting no where and I will talk to you another day ...today I haven’t heard from them so we will see what they have to say when they to contact me ....they argue that all cars they sell are still new if it has under 90 kms ...

I kind of understand how you feel but in all honesty, you're worried about nothing.

It was a car they had on the floor, that required additional service; you can't expect it not accumulate some mileage (KLM).

By your own admission, it sat at the dealer for over a month, after you agreed to their terms.

It's seems like an overreaction but hey, it's your money, only you can make that ultimate decision.

I would of loved to see that though, that's an open invitation to negotiated an extra 2 - $3,000 more off the sticker, just by playing the roll and acting outrage

I am not sure what you mean by own admission ?

I ordered the car dec 20th ...I was told two week delivery maybe 3 because of the holiday . I was told I was getting a car from there “secured compund”

I came home from my vacation on the 21st of January and called to see my car and they forgot to order it ...they told me oh it’s at our “secured compound in the city “

Now over a month since I signed and two to three week delay.

I went to go see the car without them knowing ...found it in there back lot filthy from the transport truck with an out of town dealer sticker on it .

I personally feel duped !

That’s dealers for you though ...bs at all times .

I will probably not buy this car unless there is a discount .

It wasn't an "ordered car" so can't be shocked it's had a couple of drives. With that said your willingness to forego this purchase and wait xx months for an ordered car may not be high either. If it's the spec you want and it's available at the right price...decisions decisions.

I once bought a 325is (e36) with 190k miles...one of the best BMWs I've owned...what's a few mikes/KMs?

^^^ honestly I know I’m being a bit of a baby but I was going to order one and was told I don’t need to ...they have them in there secure compund. When your told it’s in a secure compound you assume it’s in a secure compound not be driven .

There is a reason they feed there customers that bullshit ...because if he told me that he was getting me one from a Quebec dealer I would have said no thanks order me one .

The lies piss me off , but again when is a dealer honest .

A few miles here and there is not the end of the world but like I said, I would use it to my advantage.

Forward the video below to 29:00 , you'll see how BMW babies your motor, right off the assembly line.

I doubt the car got killed in 60 kms I know .

There is so much to the story here OP. Obviously you have a bad taste about the dealer and mistrust about the car. Just move on. Check the law regarding the deposit. If it's refundable, get it back and order a car from another dealer.

I ordered my OG brand new right when the M2 first came out, but had to do it out of state (Florida) as it was next to impossible to get an in-state allocation (NJ) at the time. As a result, my car arrived with ~40 miles on it or something like that. Also had a little scuff on the dead pedal and a dealership sticker on the trunk. Pretty much the only thing they didn't fuck up was my request to under no circumstances drill a front plate bracket in. Anyway, Instead of crying about it I counted my blessings for being able to even own a car like this, took delivery and enjoyed it. Sure, it wasn't a 100% perfect experience, but when is life perfect? My advice would be to enjoy what you have while you have it. Here's my dad and I on delivery day. 3 years later I'm still smiling. Cheers.

Do they do this for every vehicle on the line or is it done with only a few here and there for QC?

It's done on all new vehicles, to test the efficiency of various components, at very high loads.

In litigious country like the US, it would be a major liability to have something like the brakes fail or wheel fly out, after delivery to a customer.

So this is their way of dotting all the i's and cross the t's, after production, before someone ends up with a defective vehicle and figuratively hits the lawsuit lotto..

They do this on the vehicles produced in Germany as well?

Yes, regardless of where the vehicle is assembled, testing standards are the same, across the board.

Even American manufactured brands undergo dyno testing. And some ultra high-performance vehicles like the Ford GT undergo torture testing, on an actual race track, prior to delivery.

Forward to 2:40 below to see a Ford F-150 pick up truck in action.

I saw them do this on the Munich factory tour to all the 3 series as they came off the line.

Sounds like the dealer was sketch. I’d walk from the lack of straight-forwardness.
