Is Winter Over Yet
Weather was sunny today, even though it's frigid outside (17F). Getting 3 inches of snow tomorrow so figured I'd sneak in a quick drive (and some fresh V-Power) before the trucks roll in with the salt and sand.
I haven't driven her in weeks and I forgot just how damn fun this thing is. Couldn't stop grinning like an idiot. It's also funny how a little blue car attracts so many turned heads, lol. (Sorry for the crappy pic, I was freezing my ass off and wanted to take a quick shot.) Last edited by MMMBRAP; 01-17-2020 at 11:05 AM.. |

I wish. Big regret buying the M2 in the middle of winter (not really). Would have taken her out today, but with snow expected tomorrow, there are large chunks of salt everywhere

I'm in Connecticut so luckily they're slow AF to do the salt/sand - they usually wait until the last minute. Ugh, I need 70F+ all year round in my life. |

This car make my life at least 10% better every day I drive it; which is why I became friends with salt/sand/slush. Now I get to drive it every day and I get to have the permanent grin! But for your sake (and mine too), I'm also hoping for a short winter.

It was 28 when I left for work, and I was tempted to take the M because it was to warm up to 38. Luckily I didnt. Large trucks dropping rock salt everywhere...yikes!

Last Sunday was ridiculously perfect - it was 70F up here (not sure if you guys enjoyed that down in DC) and instead of taking advantage of that day and going for a long drive, I ended up sleeping all day lol. MISSED OPPORTUNITY. I was so pissed at myself. Quote:
I also discovered today that I actually REALLY love how our cars don't have a billion gadgets and luxury features in them. Just everything you need in a great performance car, and nothing else. |

I can understand that reasoning, but it sure is nice pulling that beauty out in the spring. It feels like I got a brand new car again. I also kinda enjoy having a vehicle purpose built for the winter and able to drive through a blizzard to get to my favorite ski resort as I did last weekend.

I have 4 cars, none of which would qualify as "beaters", all well maintained. I'd drive the M, except she has summers on her and there's all kinds of road salt hanging around and its 27 outside. As soon as its over 40, I'm out there.

I like to keep my cars clinically clean, so with the CX-5, I don't mind just running it through automatic washes to wash off salt/sand/road grime. But with the M, I hand-wash it only at home (which is a 2 hour process for me), and it simply cannot be done during the weather due to the low temps outside. That said, I'm looking to move somewhere warmer this year. Kind of done with the NE. |

"Is Winter Over Yet?"
Today is the first time I've gotten to take my M2 out in the snow since getting it March 2018. I've been waiting for so long and now is the first time it actually snowed. Today has been a blast so far. I'm still driving in DSC Off mode everywhere, but had to put it in auto/comfort a couple times to get up a hill. To me, the winter is more fun than the summer. I can slide at slower speeds, which is less risky and dangerous. And there is less wear on your tires while spinning around. |

This has been a very warm winter in the Portland area. We sort of got winter last week, and now it's back to being fall again. 16 months with this car, and my winter tires have yet to actually be on snow. The PA4's are fantastic on cold rainy days, though.

This is the closest my car will get to see snow... There's salt on the roads everywhere. On the bright side, Spring is only 58 days away!
