Airbag recall and ED
I am scheduled for ED on 6/6 and my car is scheduled to enter production the week of 5/12. I am wondering if the recent Airbag recall will have an impact on/push back production start/delivery date.
Is there anyone who is doing ED in the next couple weeks? what are you hearing? are you impacted in any way? thanks! |

Have you asked your CA? My ED isn't until August, but the first thing I did was give him a ring. My VIR does not show stop sale, my production week has not changed. According to him and the bulletin, the recall only impacts those cars being produced through 4/30 which received the bad batch. You are probably fine. If for some reason it results in overall production delays on future productions weeks (doubtful as BMW plans for these contingencies). BMW NA ED will likely work with you to swap an allocation or build week to meet your ED date.

We'll see. If I don't get this ED, i'll need to adjust my route since it was designed to be a 1-way trip from Munich to Frankfurt. My CA doesn't know any more atm either. |

I just got back from Germany yesterday for the ED of my M2C on May 9th. I got a vague email the day before my delivery date saying my car would not be available for delivery and I would be given a rental. At that point, I wasn't sure if I'd even see the car or if would just go to the Welt to pick up a rental car.
I showed up at my scheduled time and it was a lot of confusion. Many apologies were given for the car not being available and the first couple people I talked to couldn't even tell me if my car was there. I still had to fill out all the paperwork like I was taking the car. After waiting around for a couple hours I was introduced to one of their Customer Care specialists and she handled everything. I was informed my car was there so I'd get to do the normal delivery experience and I would have an M140i to use for the remainder of our trip. FWIW, everyone at the Welt as great about the stop delivery. Countless apologies and they were clearly upset/embarrassed that they couldn't give me my car. For our trip we flew into Prague and out of Frankfurt and I was able to drop off the rental car at the same place I would have left my M2C (BLG Logistics). It didn't affect our trip at all. About the rental M140i they gave me...it was great! Brand new car with 21km on the odo and it was a fun little car. There were a few times I was disappointed not to have my M2C but in all honesty this worked out better in our case. This was my first time driving in another country so I was happy for the smaller size and the convenience of the automatic transmission. |

I haven't checked but I am curious if it'll be fixed before it goes on the boat or if they're going to ship it and let the dealer fix it. I think I'd prefer the factory fix it even if it takes a little longer to get the car... |

It seems that cars the finished production after May 1 have fix applied. Those starting production after May 1 should definitely be okay. As was stated, your CA can confirm.
GL!

I just picked up my car today. 2020 M2C. My actual build date ended up being 4/14 and my car was definitely going to be affected according to my CA. Seems like they were able to get it addressed in time and I had my delivery without incident.

I did my ED a week ago (5/20) and there seems to be 3 or 4 different M2C deliveries that day. Hope that helps everyone in the future.

You have nothing to worry about. My car was a week 18 with a build start of 4/30 and completed sometime the week after. I picked up the car on 5/20 at the Welt and they did not mention a thing about the recall. The manufacture date sticker on the driver side door says 05/2019, which according to the forums should be fixed already. I am pretty sure you car was manufactured after mine, so you should get ready for some fun driving. Enjoy!

You'll be fine. Also, as of today my vehicle still shows "final assembly" but was, in fact, finished on the 17th👍🏻 Enjoy, sorry I'll miss you... Heading to Lindau after delivery. |

What a small world because that's my car. It was parked in the center spot and there was an 850i to the left. Hopefully it is already on its way back to Germany so that they can ship it to the performance center soon. Anyways, I hope you had fun with the car! It was definitely a blast for us and my wife is already eyeing a Z4 M40i for ED next year.
