Question Airbag removal procedure

Hello everyone,
I want to install a new Steering wheel bezel.
Is there a special procedure when I want to remove the steering wheel airbag to access the bezel?

1. remove ground wire
2. put towel on trunk lock
3. remove airbag retainer clips via long allen key or screwdriver
4. remove connector top clip and airbag connector.

Q-Was there a time limit to wait until I can remove the airbag?
Q-Some write that you should turn on lights to drain any power from caps or so.
Q-Another User wrote something about re-initiate windows?-Was this for the sunroof versioned M2s?

Thank you very much,
Dan

all you need on the Farkle video, I call him saint Farkle!

But iirc after you put everything back and plug the battery back I had to put the windows all the way down and then up and then turn the wheel all the way left and then right. I wonder why this happened because I have since disconnected the battery and didn't have to do this but that time I did. So if your car lights up like a xmas tree after doing this thats what you gotta do to clear it (I had to look it up last time)

Thank you guys,
with a couple of Threads here and the youtube videos, I managed to do it.

Sadly, the preowner of the car broke the rear Screw insert/cylinder of the left button-module thing when he mounted the CS steering wheel.

It holds fine in place as he used kinda resin to glue that cylinder back to the plastic-plate, amateur.

So I think I found all videos and info about this procedure, still something went not so smooth - the windows..

1. I disconnected the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Opened the driver door and the window moved down as it still had power!
3. suddenly, it moved up again

So I was super confused - as it seems to have some rest power on Powercaps on some circuit or so?
I slowly tried to close the door - and you guess it - it would hit the dark window liner on the car!

4. removed airbag and swapped my parts out
5. reconnect battery
6. re-initiate windows (both were confused)
7. turned steering

done.

Conclusion:
Just drop the windows full down before disconnecting the battery?!

What a great video
I tried stitching my Alcantara cover while the wheel was on and no good
I dreaded taking the steering wheel off but following this step by step worked a treat…
Cheers
