The one that came with my Suvneer hood isn't as nice. No problem, they are only $204.

Thanks for taking the brave leap forward. Looks like I'm jumping in now too!
Paddleshifterz was incredible to deal with and was very responsive. Wouldn't hesitate to order from "Szab" (Szabolcs Sztányi - owner of paddleshifterz) again. The new piece is definitely solid and looks great!

Actually, it's much cheaper than $204.

Yup, that's where I ordered it from. Says it's on backorder for a few days though. Understandable.

Actually, I believe the CS vent is a 2-piece affair. And getbmwparts is always cheaper than ECS. They have that same insert for $62.69 vs ECS's $71.86.

I was told my Paddleshifterz that the opening in the aftermarket hoods does not align perfectly with the factory or aftermarket carbon vent. Might be worth checking into that more, but sounds like it wouldn't necessarily fit?

Suvneer told me straight that it would, and I'll raise 9 kinds of hell if it doesn't.

Hard to tell but if this is what it looks like it will not fit the CS vent. Maybe the GTS vent is different…

Mine is much more square on the corners.

No, you're right, 100%, I was confused. I was under the impression that there was a GTS vent that was similarly styled to the CS vent, but it appears I'm mistaken.

This is the correct M3/M4 GTS vent that should be identical to mine.

Here is the GTS carbon hood vent (Not CS) that looks like it'll fit. Found one in carbon here… http://www.nvdautosport.com/carbon/f...nt-grille.html

Still waiting on my piece from NVD. I can only hope it looks as good as the Paddleshifterz and Faserschmiede versions. Thanks for the pictures everyone!

11/17 (Today) - Sent final request for update on status from NVD before filing PayPal dispute.
That really sucks! I hope everything works out in the end with either the part or your money back. Appreciate you writing about your experience though.

Get with Paddleshifterz and tell Szab I sent you. He was awesome, even with the small mishap with the first unit. Second unit arrived and they changed some quality processes because of the feedback. He STILL emails with me about it make sure I'm happy!

That's awesome. Thanks man. I did finally hear back from NVD today and the unit is set to ship next week. I can only hope at this point it fits perfectly! If this doesn't work out, Paddleshifterz for sure!

Paddleshifterz comes through! Beautiful piece. They definitely got that tab alignment issue worked out and it matches well.

Interesting part about the 3M double-sided tape... I was hesitant to use it at first, but the clips loosen from the hood too easily and the piece comes off. Then, tried to use the tape. It was still was coming off too easily (probably because they were only slivers of tape all around the piece). I remembered that I had some 3M adhesive promoter. The hood is PPF'd so I decided to use it and if I ever decide to switch back and the tape doesn't come off, the PPF can always be redone. After using the adhesive promoter, the piece was solid. No way that's flying off on the road now.

Also, one side effect of this piece that I didn't think of until after the install was that the clearcoat was real nice. Definitely doesn't scratch up as easily as the OEM piece. I feel like a strand of hair could scratch the OEM hood vent.

That looks great. Really wish I had mine. It's on its way from China, apparently. Ugh!

I received my carbon fiber hood vent from NVD Auto. As far as I can tell, this is a "skinned" factory part. It does in fact appear to be real carbon fiber, so I'm happy about that, versus hydrodipping. Normally, I might be a little annoyed by this, but given some of the fitment topics discussed here, re: 3m adhesive, I'm OK with the OEM mounting.

Update from manufacturer:

Quote:
The part is original part laminated with the real carbon fiber, then coating with the UV and HEAT resistant coating

Don't worry about it being CF trimmed. It goes with the M2CS weight savings theme. The part seems to look nice. I'd also like that it uses factory install.

It looks like NVD still did a good job. The wet-layering looks clean and the weave is consistent. Thank goodness it's not hydrodipped. Haha... I can only think of the frustration and anger that would be coming up if it was advertised carbon fiber and you get carbon fiber-like, especially after what you went through.

Let us know if the fitment is good though. Sometimes, even with an OEM part, if they lay too much epoxy, that can hinder fitment. Or, if it's not done properly, the CF can start to separate from the OEM piece. But, yea, if it's done well, should be just fine!
