Steel brake lines
I am planning on doing a track day in June. I was thinking of upgrading to steel brake lines. Any suggestions on which kit to get? Also would like to know why you suggested that kit.
Thanks in advance. P.S. Not by far my first track day but my first in my M2. Previous cars all had brake fade after a while. That is why I am thinking about the steel brake lines. |

If you get brake fade in your M2, steel brake lines aren't going to make much of a difference. Better brake cooling and using Castrol SRF for your fluid will be far more effective.
While I normally do recommend SS brake lines for other/older cars, they are at the very bottom of the list for the OG M2, especially for your first day. But they aren't even that necessary after your 25th trackday either. Just my 2c. If you really want them though, you can try these: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...10025ecs01b~a/ |

Braided lines wont help fade at all, they improve pedal feel as oem rubber hoses tend to balloon with hot brake fluid causing a spongey feel.
Not a lot of difference in which brand you go for, some have protective sleeving but all basically do the same. Given the cheap cost & ease of installation its worth doing when you replace your fluid imo.

I'd skip the brake lines honestly. It's not really needed in the M2 unless you don't have anything left to upgrade.
Just get some good pads and high temp fluid. Go have some fun. Ive only had brake fade a couple times in my M2, and both times it was from running on a hot day with many back to back hotlaps with no cool downs. |

I’ve had a braided Russel brake line kit burst on me during a track day. Stick to OE. High temp fluid and pads make a huge difference in brake pedal feel. SS lines make just a few percentage points improvement and come with their own issues.

Largest delta on tire circumerence w/o ABS issues
I'm looking to run a 275/30 & 295/35 Falken 660 for my street/auto x and wet track setup.
That's 25.6" F & 27.2" R which is a 6% rotational difference. I've run previous BMW's and other sports cars with a 6-8% change with no ABS problems. I don't care a rats ass about DCT. it still sucks on every BMW ever made. Just if ABS will screw up my threshold/trail braking, etc... If I can manage this setup, then I can run a square 285/30/18 BFG R1 package on my 10" Apex rims. Anyone tracking a M2 running this much of a difference and if so any issues? THX in advance, HAZMAT

Track pads and proper fluid and you should not have any problems. I run Motul 660 and PFC08 and they have been great for the past 47 track days with my M2.

SS lines don't make a noticeable difference (from my experience), but here you go - https://ind-distribution.com/product...el-brake-lines
Fresh Castrol SRF and track pads make much more of a difference.

If a passenger had been in that car, I think they would have been dead. Back in the paddock I asked him how he was doing and got the download about his car, and he had just installed SS lines the night before. |

OEM pads give a softer feeling, but they have a fishnet type mesh which prevents them from bursting. I'll be sticking with OEM pads. I got lucky, mine bust in the paddock when I was trying to figure out another issue. I pumped the brakes a few times, and a guy looking at my rear right got squirted with fluid. If It happened on the track, I would have lost one front wheel brake, and one rear. Not good.

Maybe when the car has done a good very miles - swap out hoses might make a difference then but does SFA on new/new-ish Beemers... BTW +1 for Cas SRF and better pads FWIW...
