Intake Options and Feedback
Looking to add a little more intake/turbo sound. I know the open box filters may have some heat soak…but that aside, anyone have real experience with SSR, Turner or others that you can comment on? I’ve read mixed reviews that some intakes cause some rough starts and/or idle and I certainly don’t want that. This would be paired with an Akra midpipe and muffler…otherwise the car is stock.
Eventuri is obviously great but not sure I want to drop $2+k given it doesn’t sound THAT much different than stock. |

From a M2C thread I replied to last fall. The car is still in storage because my garage reorganization is taking longer than planned and I can’t get to my detailing supplies.

I find the Dinan option reasonably price if I wanted a bit of bling w/o breaking the bank. Currently just have drop-in filters from BMC.

I have only ran the car a few times since installing it before putting it into storage for the winter. |

I'm happy with my RK Titanium intake. It's flashy, for sure and therefore not for everyone. I installed it for added engine bay bling and sound, but can't confirm any power improvements. I replaced the air filters with ProRam variants because I wanted black. I haven't experienced any issues with rough starts or idle.

I have the Burger Motorsports intakes (BMS) and they have been great. Price was right, gloss black to match the trim, blue intake filters to match my Misan Blue paint. For the price, they are great. Sound of the open filter design is what you need for sure to get the turbo noises. No CEL or other rough idle or running issues since stalling 3-4K miles ago and 1-2 years. I plan to replace/clean the filters shortly to keep them really clean.

This car runs a speed density tune when at pretty much anything over idle. Therefore, an intake is not going to do anything different unless the air is severely heat soaked or you require more air like with a larger turbo. An intake is, for the most part, purely for sound and bling. I don't get much sound from the Eventuri, but definitely lots of bling.

How's the throttle response for those of you with intakes? Any changes?

i don’t notice any differences, but then again i wasn’t paying attention to any throttle feel changes. i wanted more intake noise while still looking semi oem, and the turner box delivered.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I think I may give Injen a try. Their customer service has been great and Mike from Extreme Power House recommended them for quality and sound. Will report back.
