How many miles before taking it to the track?

The strict break-in period is pretty clear in the manual - stay under 5500 rpm and 106 mph, and avoid full throttle/kickdown, until reaching 1200 miles. But then there is a vague period between 1200 and 3100 miles where the manual suggests gradually increasing the speed to a maximum constant speed of 137 mph and brief occasional bursts up to 155 mph.

I had over 2000 miles on both my M235i and my Camaro 1LE before taking them to the track.

How long are you guys waiting before tracking the M2?

I was planning on it being 1200 miles before track. Didn't consider letting it ride more.

About 1,200 miles before going to the Glen. I don't think you need to worry about "maximum constant speed of 137 mph and brief occasional bursts up to 155 mph" as I don't think you would be cruising for a prolonged time above 137 mph on any track.

Anyways, 50 + track days and 20,000 miles later, I have zero problems with my M2.

I had the 1200 mile service performed less than a week before my first track day in the M2.

Similar to dvas , I’m 50+ track days and 32k miles in without any issues.

I had 1250 miles before my first track day, break in service the day before, that was back in April 2016, now I have close to 60,000 miles on it and haven't had a single issue with it, and it's running stronger than that first track day.

I would say about as many miles as it takes to get from the dealership to the track - hard break in ftw
