Someone please fix the opening thread so that misinformation is not spread any further... As the OP said, the skid does NOT weigh 650 lb

The two metal pallets weigh in at 250lbs (each at 125lbs)
And the wooden skids are about "58-60lbs" each and there are 4-5 of them sandwiched In between (i looked but I can't really tell?).
I don't know about how much fluids are in the car? And yes! I do know it plays a factor? But I'm leaving that up to "YOU" to guess? So don't start pointing fingers.

So your looking at somewhere between 3340-3480Lbs or so?

I'm not trying to get into things, so you all can start guessing for yourselves.
Just leave me out of it!
Cheers!!

An since it seems to be agreed in this thread that this is a Euro-spec car with DCT it will weigh in at 1520kg with a 90% load of fuel. Because that is what BMW Germany states for the Euro spec cars. And they use real, certified scales. And they have to report the correct weight to the authorities. I know there's a lot of paranoid conspiracy theoretics around that thinks that car manufacturers mess around with weights as they like, but they don't.
So the only thing that remains to be discussed regards to weight on this particular car then is how much fuel is on board, and how much extra equipment does it have!
And by the way, the specific weight on petrol is 0,74kg/ltr, and the M2 can take 52 of those
Yep. 1520kg -/- 35kg fuel(in theory, 90% of 52 litres of fuel)= 1495kg(just as stated by the Dutch government car import authorities/ department )
Sorry 1485kg, my bad...1495 is stated by Dutch import authorities.

Edit: Im talking about a DCT car. 6MT will be xxkg lower weighed(25kgs?)

Cheers
Robin

BMW Germany states EU-weight in kg 1570 for MT and 1595 for DCT, and this includes 75kg driver/luggage and 90%(35kg) fuel.
Which again means that car without driver/luggage will be 1495kg for MT and 1520kg for DCT!

By then, it will be about $8,000 USD... cancelling my annual trip to the US due to the 40% premium

Why would they send a European Specification car to a "national auto show"?

So it seems the car is off to Houston (IAH tag), and it will or won't be at the auto show next week? Might anyone know?

Either that, or it just passed through IAH on way to cali.

If it is there, I'm sure someone will let us all know Wednesday....

good luck with that assuming the rate does not change...depending which province in canada, the M2 is going to cost someone anywhere from 66K to 75K CDN total.... considering exchange fees it would take 46K - 52K USD for someone in Canada to break even, yes they will probably take a loss but not 16K USD, if you are lucky you will be able to buy one for 45K USD

just as an example my M2 is costing me 74K CDN total
if i drive it around for a few thousand miles and decide to flip it i sure as hell wouldnt take 30K USD ($43,500 CDN) for it, thats a 30K loss!!

I have to guess it's the latter. They can't be ashamed of something that they know will eventually become public knowledge. I like to think they wanted to surprise us with a lower weight, similar to underrated horsepower, and didn't want the cat out of the bag.

Wishful thinking at least.

Remember the pre-production G11 730d pictures leaked in December 2014 ? The car was in transit and an employee of the cargo company shot some unflattering pictures, which ended up on the interwebs. Scott26 commented:
"So we had a brief meeting this morning which include said representatives from the cargo company involved. Let's just say that the ones that took the pictures, their reflections are visible on the car itself." (see here)
E63/E64 6er pictures: Scott26 commented:
"Cameras are not allowed and that also goes for phones. The last high profile leak was at an early presentation for the E63 and E64 6er. A US dealer photographed the two and put them on line or sent them to a magazine. Management at that time went ballistic. Completely Bat-shit crazy and they lost their franchise. I think they now sell Korean. Hyundai or Kia." (see here)

I am sorry to hear that... I hope you were not in trouble for it.

Anyhow, it made the "internet" react to the BMW M2 weight for sure! Did we find the final weight for the manual six-speed M2 from the shipping skid?

Thanks again for the interior pics!

The car is an EU Car and by all accounts we could already see that it was close to the US WEIGHT not the travishamockery EU weight with person.

That leaves no wiggle room for the EU folks as they can't give the " different option package " for US cars excuse.

The fact that someone at BMW AG thought they could list two different cars at the exact same weight is just ludicrous in its own right.

Ashamed of the weight? It's obvious it doesn't weigh 1800kg and people were just getting confused.
