It basically feels like the clutch isn't disengaging properly. Edit: Oh, and "recalcitrant" Last edited by M Fifty; 02-16-2022 at 07:26 AM.. |

Has anyone seen anything formal from BMW finally approving FFL-3 as suitable for the manual transmission in the M2C? |

I may use Redline next time around but, for now, still under warranty and trying to stay as close as possible to "OE" fluids.
Fwiw… I asked FCP Euro if they had any documentation of BMWs approval and this was their response: "I'm happy to help! I took a look into this for you and I was not able to find any information or documentation regarding the fluid being approved by BMW." |

My $0.02: If you track your car, I would change regularly - say every year - cheap insurance. Otherwise several years, certainly not 'never'.
I have mostly changed my mind on RedLine products other than their engine oil - no data to back this up... Ray |

I'm the opposite, I prefer other engine oils to redline, but I like the transmission fluid.

I'm just going by what's recommended by F87source. . If it's good enough for his car, it's good enough for mine.

My experience with transmissions is that the factory fill is often the best. Found this to be true in Porsche and Subaru!
It is funny how oils become almost a religious topic! I usually trust the opinions at BITOG... Smart people, in general. Ray |

My car is 4 years old and has 24k miles on it. I took it in for the last warranty check and had them change the transmission oil. It shifts smoother now. I don't think it's placebo.

Did you do your rear differential fluid as well?

I changed my Mazda 3 to Redline and I’m not sure if I felt a difference or not. Honestly, it’s a really smooth shifter anyway and it’s only improved with time. I am eager to try this on my M2C once I get more miles.

Not yet, I plan on changing it around 30k since it was changed at the break-in service already. It will probably be another year at my current mileage rate. Then i think I'll change them every 30k or so depending on the time-line. I think lifetime fill of any oil is crazy.

I just changed the Tranny fluid to Redline with 17K miles on the odometer and I didn't think it would make a difference, but it feels so much better. I did also upgrade the transmission bushing to rouge as well so that could be part of it. Shifting into 1 and 2 feels a lot smoother.
