Wanted: M2 OG/LCI Manual (sub 30kmiles / Grey / White / Black)

Hey all

I'm looking to buy a Manual M2 ideally an OG, but also ok with LCI.
Has to be no more than 30k miles - ideally mid 20k miles.

Colour preference:
Grey
White
Black
In that order. Won't consider Blue cars.

Obviously usual requirements - full service history / no digs etc / excellent condition.

Must have heated seats (I think its standard anyway?)
No black alloys or mods or lowering springs.

Ideally would like to have Apple CarPlay.
If there's also a heated steering wheel - that would be a bonus.

Budget
I'll pay a minimum of £1500 more than We Buy Any Car valuation - maybe more car dependant (but obviously significantly less than what a dealer wants).

Might consider CAT cars (as long as it's not structural damage - and there are insure reports / pictures / and repair invoices present)

Funds ready and waiting for right car.

Will travel anywhere in mainland UK. No Northern Ireland cars.

If you mean £15,000 your still way short

Lol, ok maybe WBAC has now changed since they we valuing about 3 weeks ago… seen their valuations literally drop 2k over 3 weeks.

Let’s put it this way… I will pay a fair price based on WHATCAR valuations when buying privately. And probably a tiny bit more. I don’t want to put a figure down, unfortunately I’ll end up getting people asking silly money. And I’ll break my budget for the right car too.

And to add to that… I think dealers are living in cloud cuckoo land with the prices they wanting. No one’s going to buy an M2 OG at £34k, or £33k, or even £32k - for a 30k miler, unless the car had ever option under the planet.

I’ve been following both auction prices, and private prices for around a year and know what buying seem to buying at. £31k from a dealer with sub 30k miles.

If I’m getting above 32k I may as well pay an extra £2-3k and buy cayman s, Audi R8 and a bunch of other cars. And yes I know the argument for buying an m2 practicality / running costs etc.

I’ve seen the same car up for sale for a year £35k - 25k miles. I’ve seen another one £33k up for 8 months now. And I’ve seen cars come up for 31k that seem to sell within the month.

My budget is based on paying a chunk more than a garage would pay for your car - but a chunk less than a garage would want to sell for.

What’s really funny is the dealer who thinks they can sell a 70k miler for £29k… I’m guessing they waiting for some 20 year old who can just about afford the monthly payments on it for six months.

I was lucky when I bought mine in Jan 2020, I ended up having to wait until the big lockdown was over to pick it up, I paid £30k for a one owner 2018 4k miles manual, with warranty and a fresh service from a BMW main agent. They were very keen to do any deals in early 2020, I have 15k on the clock now and hope to just keep it for many years. I took my E39 M5 from 12k miles to 130k many years ago

Yeh unfortunately I didn't have the funds ready at the time... you got an amazing deal there! 4k miles!!!

I've been watching prices since December 2019 - but didn't expect the prices to get that high. The thing is I'd totally get it it if the cars were selling - but its all the same M2s still up for sale... like literally a good 5 months. and there's 40 odd of them too.

There was 3 M2's I was watching - back in December 2021 - they were up for £33k around July 2021. One disappeared in end of Jan (30k miles - when the price was dropped to 30,700. And the other two both sold at 31k (or disappeared of auto trader (one with 23k miles / the other with 30k miles)

So yeh even in July / August last year - there were a couple of M2s up for £28k with 30k miles.

Thinking of going for an M4 F80 now - more car for less money, and with a BMW warranty to boot

I think the original dealer price was just over £35k, it dropped to £34k and I started to negotiate and they said they would do a very good deal if I was serious, he then said it will be very good as the car was due to go between dealers. They got back to me within 24 hours and I just said yes, it was so much better than I was getting near anywhere else. Plus it was white and manual and that was what I wanted. Right place right time !
