During the installation we had to cut this and that, but otwervise no big changes. Wiring of PDC in the front bumper already installed.

PDC sensors on front bumper. Nice install. After paint job.
Also need some wiring in the car to connect the front PDC wires and to be retrofitted. |

See attached image - We connected the M2 into ISTA/P and there is an option for RETROFIT, PARK DISTANCE CONTROL, FRONT. (These retrofit options available via ISTA/P are coming from 2 series model option.) |

When you select the park sensor button only the sensor screen is shown, see post #1, second picture. If you would like to activate the rear view camera you will need to use the iDrive selector, click left, scroll and click the camera icon. The default behavior is not what you see when you put the car in reverse and what I had expect to see. So it is useful for the scenario CSL335i described. When I selected the button I was expecting to see the same screen as when in reverse so that I could see 1) how close the a**hole behind me in traffic is to my back bumper 2) if I have pulled far enough forward in a parking space, i.e. see the parking space line in the camera In the the X5 the camera does not turn off until ~ 18 mph so I will use the button to turn it off if say I need to access a different screen. The M2 camera turns off immediately when you pull forward so the button is not need in this case either. All in all it works as CSL33i described, is easy enough to do and some may find it more useful than myself. Enjoy. |

The color doesn't seem to match. The sensors are lighter than your bumper. Can yo post another picture?

I was very excited when reading this thread so went forward with the retrofit. It's a piece of cake to install. However, what I had hoped for is that when pushing the button the beeping turns off but the camera stays on. Unfortunately, it turns the backup camera off as well.

Can someone please explain - how/what is the best method for removing the original module from the gear selector area?
Do you take the gear selector off first and then deal with the module? Obviously, brand new M2 so don't want to be damaging anything right now! Thanks |

Update - think I'm ok, looking the the photos again on page 2, looks like the retaining clips are top and bottom of the unit.
Ok, so I can get the gear shift surround off relatively easily but still struggling with the removal of the control unit? Is it held in by clips down one side like the gearshift surround or is it something different? I've used a fair bit or force and wiggle but it's stubborn and I don't want to break anything. Please help |

Right, I've managed to remove and fit the new module but disappointed as the button doesn't switch the sensor off??
I have a UK/RHD car and did not purchase the rear camera optional extra. Has any done this mod with a non-US and back up camera variant? Could I be missing something? I thought all the wiring was there and it's just plug and play but maybe not in RHD vehicles? |

I've done this on my car and it works ok, I have the camera and this is the behaviour that I see.
Car into reverse - green light comes on next to button. Take car out of reverse - sensors, camera and display all active Press button - everything goes off. Press button again - sensors and sensor display comes on, no camera ( I have seen the same in other non BMW cars) Hope that makes sense |

After further testing this module upgrade does not work as intended in my UK spec DCT without rear camera option.
Selecting reverse turns on the thin green bar in the module but the button is useless and will not turn the beeping or radar screen off. Taking the selector out of reverse and putting it in D or N also has no effect. I can only think this has something to to with the wiring loom when the optional back up camera is installed. Shame. |
