First time I heard about it was in that thread, apparently a few people tried it and it's working, time will tell if its glitch free.

It sounds like everything works if your car came with iDrive 5 (model year 2017). If your car came with iDrive 4 (model year 2016), it'll break Navigation and ConnectedDrive.

Even though I have a 2017 M2 with iDrive 5, I'm not making the change until people who love to be on the bleeding edge thoroughly test it first.

My thoughts exactly, certainly looks interesting though.

If you prefer the appearance of iDrive 5 or prefer not to have the larger tiles that show data that updates in real-time.

Navigation, Entertainment, and ConnectedDrive are the ones that update the most frequently, and in that order of frequency. Navigation can be a live moving map with arrival time and distance remaining. You can choose what is displayed for the Navigation, ConnectedDrive, and My Vehicle tiles.

It's easily reversible.

Cars with iDrive 6 as default are shipping now. If you can code this, your car shipped with iDrive 6 Light, but it wasn't turned on. It's not as if this is something that "coders" developed. BMW created it and got it working well enough to build in to the ECU, so it works as glitch-free as any of the car's other functions.

It's been working just fine in my M4 and X3 for a week.

In my opinion, any "glitches" that show up in iDrive 6 Light will also be present in iDrive 5 unless they are specific to the "live" or "active" tiles.

There's no reason it couldn't. I've done this on both our cars using E-Sys.

Will this app code my 2013 F30 or just later LCI versions? I downloaded the app and it has HU NBT but I have CIC. UPDATE: I just realized I was in the demo mode. I don't think I can really explore until I get a wifi OBD dongle.

The two things I want to do are activate my weatherband radio and activate door unlock on ignition off. I lost these features when the dealer updated my software while doing the BMW Assist retrofit. I was able to restore everything that that was lost with Carly except for these two features. Originally my car had been coded with esys by a "pro."

Finally, any chance my Carly version 2 wifi adapter will work with Bimmercode?

Thanks.

So, does this offer all coding options vs. connecting your car to laptop with the coding software?

Just reading through the thread, it seems like this is much more easy to use than the software and flashing/coding through the laptop method.

I haven't used it yet but based on the demo it does. It looks like the popular features are offered first but if you go to the Expert Mode everything for that module seems to be listed. The only thing I'm not sure of is how many modules it reads. My adapter should arrive from Amazon tomorrow and I will check it then. Others can feel free to chime in with how many modules.

I know many say that Esys is easy to use and it may be but to me getting it set up seems like a challenge

Good luck.

UPDATE:
My dongle arrived from Amazon today. I was able to code quickly.

It recognized five modules on my 2013 328i FEM, REM, Air Conditioning, HU_CIC and Instrument Cluster). It did not recognize the ACSM module so no access to seat belt chimes. I coded a couple things in expert mode that I couldn't code with Carly ( i.e. Weatherband Radio and unlock on ignition off so I don't have to double pull the door handle). I also coded a couple things from their menu. I did one module at a time. I think that is required. Also, I did not lose my presets on buttons 1-8 as others did. Perhaps the latest version fixed that glitch. Mirror fold with comfort access from the remote did work for me.

Bottom line: I am glad I purchased BimmerCode and the dongle. If I'd known about it earlier I wouldn't have purchased Carly. Of course, Carly works for more models and does some other things including the CSM module For an F series owner that only wants to easily code, BimmerCode is probably all that is needed.

Hi guys,
just registered here to help you out, if there are any questions

It seems like there are some values missing for the HMI_ID_VERSION coding, but I will fix that with the next version.

Welcome! Glad you registered...great app!

Is there a way to permanently save a backup?
I know the app automatically creates backups however Will they be overwritten at some point? Any way to rename the backups?
