All this F87 vs G87 reminds me of the 993 vs 996 debate two decades ago...

All the odd angles vanish into one cool-looking package in black. I think red (with the sun roof, not carbon package) looks OK, but yes, black is badass in this body style. How are you dealing with that ID8 dash? I tried it out on a loaner for a weekend on a 5-series and hated it. I need at least some analog stuff. |

On the positive side, the user interface and the graphics are state of the art. Simply put, they're amazing. I'm somewhat used to it now? Maybe? There's still a learning curve but it's a fun system to play with.

Photos of the new M2 make it look like Sid the Sloth! The front end is horrible, however, it does look better in person but it doesn't compare to the M2C.
The interior is sweet except for the HUGE mono screen for an infotainment system and odd/speedo combination. It looks silly. I am absolutely in love with my F87 M2C and I don't think I will ever get rid of it! |

Saw a black G87 in motion this past weekend (being tailed by SO F87). Some of the angularity works, especially murdered out. I'd own it over an M4 from a cosmetic and dimensions standpoint.

Went for a drive today in the G87 while owning the F87. G87 in person not as bad as in photos, more street presence with the size and controversial looks. The drive in my opinion was amazing, besides the same M2 badging i felt the two are totally different cars. Both has its merits and if i had to make a conclusion after the drive it is the F87 is an amazing toy and G87 is an amazing machine. Here are some photos to pick your brain.

Something about the G, maybe the longer looking hood, just screams Z4 to me. IMO the F Comp hits the proportions and aggressiveness just right, along with keeping somewhat traditional BMW styling. Biased of course 😜, I'm sure the G is an amazing ride, but happy at the moment with F.

I did not like the G87 when it was released in pictures but seen one the other day in black and it looks menacing on the road. I’m not fond of black but I would only purchase this car in black

Black hides many of the unattractive bits and with the proper drop/spacers and or wheels would look much better IMHO.

I've had both. There's many reasons to like both. I like reading both forums because the amount of vitriol between groups is comical. If you made me pick, having HAD BOTH, I'd choose the g87. I am more into a touring car, than a shifty little drifty car. Personal preference. It's better than the f82 I had in that regard too. S58 is amazing to me. I have m sport suspension and it looks a lot better than the monster truck stance it comes on. Same with my f87 though. Stock for stock, I think the g87 is superior, and yes I was taken aback by all the g series designs when released. With that said, the g87 is easily my favorite. Here's both. Cheers to anyone lucky enough to have either car.
(I'd have chosen black or grey over blue, because the amount of positive attention zandvoort gets is literally ridiculous. I can't go anywhere without someone talking to me about it, or taking pics. More attention than expected. And on that note the blue is very difficult to shoot properly, whereas hockenheim can handle an edit and still look like it's real color).

I don’t think the G87 looks bad, but it suffers by comparison to the F87 which is one of the best modern BMW designs. I can appreciate what they were aiming for with the boxy angularity but it just doesn’t hold up against the former M2’s curves. Still, better than the G80/82 whose front end still looks terrible.

I recall seeing someone say that the G87 looks like the generic GTA-5 rip of itself.
For me I look at it and I see a 2000s Nissan Maxima in the front & shoulders. |

I also have owned both and completely agree with you, as many many others do. Does that make the F87 a bad car? No, of course not. It's going to go down as one of BMWs best. Especially the Competition model. It was peak BMW and will for sure be a classic. If I could have both, I would, I think a lot of G series owners would.
