They make one single adaptor that works for ALL BMW, no risk of getting the wrong one!

BMW knobs are all pull-off non threaded, so you need the non threaded adaptor and choose BMW from the list.

Can you post any pictures of your issue? Maybe I can help?

The BMW shift knobs and boots are one piece plastic-welded together. They are purchased as a single item from BMW.

The knob has to be broken off the ring that is glued into the shift boot. This leaves the ring in place which cannot be removed from the boot fabric.

I then used a 20mm drill bit by hand to open up the ring so it fitted over the raceseng adapter post, then the new knob just screws down over the top of the boot covering the ring.

Uhh its the wires next to it there is even a plastic part in between the two wires so I dont wanna cut into it even though I tried with a razor lol. A drill bit would probably work better, but I didn't try it. I already snapped the two black bits from the shift knob though so it doesn't sit right anymore.

So you have the illuminated Mperformance shifter??

If you want to snap the knob off the gaiter then just cut the wires.

The knob doesn't unclip or detach, you have to break it off. I tapped a trim removal wedge between the knob base and the gaiter top until it snapped off.

It should be a clean break so you can super glue it back on if you need to.

The ring in you picture has to remain in place, i just opened up the centre hole so it fitted over the raceseng adaptor post.

Others may have different approaches...

Yeah I do, I didnt want to cut the wires since that would kind of make the part useless.

OK, in that case you'll have to buy the OE shift knob and gaiter and use that gaiter.

It seems to have disappeared from REALOEM at the moment for some reason??

I actually have a Raceseng Circuit Sphere 100 (short one) with the BMW adapter I might consider selling. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Its heavier than my blue Ashiko, but most importantly its higher and the shape is better suited to my shifting styles. With my right elbow resting on the armrest it falls right into my right hand.

At 1.8 lbs its awesome with the AS SSK.

Read this thread multiple times, as well as the other one in the M2C section (albeit this thread is in the S55 section). So much great information and reviews, that I've placed an order with Ronald with the following specs:
  • 20% reduction
  • OEM height (will mate with the M240i MP shifter, we'll see if I have the amplified whirring noise)
  • 80a+ upgraded bushings

Like others have mentioned, Ronald was very responsive and provided great information. I let him know that the M2 is my only car, living in Toronto Canada, doing maybe 3-4 track days a year, and he suggested without a doubt to stick with the 80a+ bushings. I challenged a bit saying that I likely wouldn't mind the slightly increased NVH of the 80a, and whether he could provide insight on pros and cons of 80a vs 80a+. He flat out said the following:
Quote:
Zero tradeoff. I will be discontinuing the 80a soon. A little tradeoff between the 95a and the 80a+ but not for a daily driver. No brainer 80a+ is the way to go.
Like some others said, $449 to start, and an added $49 for the bushing upgrade if ordered at the same time as the shifter. $16 to ship to NY.

He doesn't have any shifters with my configuration in stock, so he'll likely be shipping out end of the month. Just contemplating on whether I should do the CDV delete or not.

That's exactly what Ron is making for me. Looking forward to it.
I plan on CDV delete while doing the swap. I've done that to every MT BMW I've owned as it makes a big difference in engagement feel and consistency.

Nice, looking forward to it as well.

That's another data point for me to consider the CDV delete as well. I take it you (and others) have purchased the clutch slave cylinder with PN 21526785964? ECS has it for about $85.

Finally installed my new shifter from Auto Solutions with 25% reduction on my M2C and wow what an upgrade this is over stock. The only thing missing now is a weighted shift knob and call it a day. Makes driving this car that much more enjoyable and precise

Several people have used https://www.raceseng.com/products/shift-knobs knobs. There are a couple of threads on this.

Thanks ended up going with the scepter translucent copper color to match the orange stitching of the interior. Just wish they had the R-lock for bimmers

What's the purpose of purchase of this slave if you are removing the CDV? Does it make the removal and reassembly easier or something?

The slave IS the CDV-- sort of. The one on the M2C has the slave cylinder with a small restrictor hole in it for the fluid to pass through. The part number above is the slave but without the small restrictor-- the fluid path is much larger.

At least that's how I understand it.

On the e46 M3 you could just remove the CDV restrictor and install a blank from Zeckenhausen, but it looks like BMW's changed things up a bit.
