That's how I understand it as well....it's not a limited production run in any means.

Now, when the M2 CS comes out in 2020.....that will most likely be a very limited production run.

How limited at the M3CS cars? Doesn't seem like BMW can get rid of them.

Well now that you mention it...I had to google "over 9000" to know what it meant.

Urban Dictionary:

"Over 9000"
A popular phrase originating from Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball Z." Went viral after gaining attention on YouTube, 4chan, and other social media sites. Refers to an object of incredible strength, a large quantity of something, or any number higher than seven.

I do wonder though if it will be a small number. While the car is great, its not for everyone. So it will not be like selling a more common, but desired vehicle.

And yet, world-wide, the M2 and M2C were the highest-selling M Car last year. I don't know that I've ever seen M Division US sales data by model.

As stated above, the M2 is the best selling M model.

well around 6000 N55 M2s were sold in the USA/NA across 3 model years (more like 2.5).

so my guess is somewhere in that range of M2Cs (4000-7000 depending on how long production of the M2C lasts). certainly not 'rare' by any means. the M2 is one of the biggest selling M cars for BMW so they build as many as they can limited only by production capabilities...

I've mentioned this in other threads. I don't know what the US Production numbers are for the M2C but if this is the best selling M car I have no idea why I rarely see an OG M2 or M2C in Southern California especially since it's supposed to be one of the best car culture areas of the world with car enthusiasts, moderate weather, and miles and miles of great roads.

Spotting an M2 or M2C is like seeing a mythical unicorn in the wild.

I feel like there's more hype than substance when it comes to this car but this is coming from a non-BMW fanboy or car enthusiast.

More like very few. The CS is nothing more than all the carbon bits + 20 hp and some unique color for 50% more than the competition model.

Honestly CS should just stand for "car sucker"

Ah, I was just being a little e sarcastic to entertain myself 🙂

In all seriousness, I pick up my M2C on 1st March and that's all the car I need. I've got a few modifications lined up and as I plan on keeping it a long time I can always add more power within 12-24 months if I want.

Like people are saying, the CS is likely cost a lot of money for not very much.

My guess is that while it may be the best selling M Car in the world (said in Clarkson's voice, of course), it is not the best selling M Car in the US. Kind of like the Pacific NW's obsession with Subarus. If you just based your guesses about which cars are the best selling cars in the world based on what you see in the Portland Metro, you'd end up guessing that Subaru sells as many cars as Toyota.

Oh there are loads of M2s in NYC. Just in my neighborhood there are 3 or 4. Have seen loads of them over the past few years...they've sold plenty. Nothing "unicorn" about it, IMO. I see more M2s than F80 M3s.

Other than car meets, I've only seen a handful of M2/M2C's in the wild. (Lol @ "in the wild" reminds me of when I used to play Pokemon Go. Hahaha). I've seen way more M3/M4's too.

I've had the M2C since September, and I've not seen any others so far (and there are a lot of M-cars around this area). The two local dealers have had a total of less than 10 allocations I believe, and I know the one I was on the list at forever (before finding the exact car in Sept and buying it in Chicago) had not delivered their first M2C until November sometime.

The only other one I've seen so far was when I was at the Performance Center for the CCA Foundation event last month. The PC had just (finally) received their M2Cs, and they were in street driving break-in duty. I parked next to a HS one:
