Drivetrain malfunction

Good morning folks

While driving this morning I got this message. I have DCT M2 C. I was in sport plus and had to brake hard as the car in front of me decided to make a turn suddenly without indicator. My car downshifted with rev going up to 7k, then all of a sudden I got this message. I was able to drive another 100 m before I stopped and restarted and the warning went away. I drove to work in normal eco mode after that. Do I need to take if for check or it may be just a one time thing.

This exact thing happened to me also. I wouldn't sweat it. If you want to be safe, just run it into service and they can check it out.

Are you still in break in mode?

My guess and I’ve seen this said elsewhere, is that BMW doesn’t unlock the more aggressive maps until after the break in service.

Pretty sure that's not true, the only thing they unlock is LC if you have DCT

Do you have anyway to read the fault codes? If so post them here.

It can be numerous things.

Were you low on gas? This seems to be a common issue with BMW's when doing aggressive maneuvers on a low tank, even with M cars.

I had the same thing happen at the track in my M235i a couple years ago.
