Car Protection for ED M2C?
Hi Folks,
I have a question for the ED guys, who, for whatever reason, did go to the Welt to obtain ED, but chose to leave their car there for delivery to the USA, without it leaving the Welt. I was wondering, when the car is delivered to the States, will it have all the protective whitish film that all other cars get prior to transport? Or, since it was "delivered to the customer'" at the Welt, all that stuff was removed (for proper presentation) and will not be placed on the car again? I just want the car to be protected for the long trip over? Thanks in advance. Neville |

The car will be presented to you on the Welt showroom floor completely stripped of all protective film. Basically, it's set up so you can immediately drive away.
I wouldn't worry too much about transit. BMW ships cars across the pond for a living. IF it's damaged in any way, it will be repaired at the VPC before re-delivery in the states. Mine looked exactly as I left it when I dropped it off in Frankfurt.

M2NEV, even though you're leaving the car at the Welt, I'm guessing BMW will present the car without the protective film. That way you can snap photos, ogle, etc. I wouldn't worry about the shipping.
Exar Kun, one can pay BMW to drop off the car to Munich Airport. I don't know if they drive it or put it on a truck. |

If you do ED they will take all the film off period. I'm not sure if they re-wrap it for the journey back to the VPC or not. I wouldn't worry about it. I just told my dealer not to wash it at re-delivery as they just run it through the automated wash.

I did Euro Delivery, mid February, gave it a hug only, paid I think 75-85? Euro to have it sent to port on a flat bed, no need to drive it 15 min away then do paper work @ drop off
You can rent a similar car you ordered at the welt if you want the feel, but if good weather above 40 degrees just take her out If you can drive it DRIVE it then to drop off location(s) i couldn't because of no winter tire package available for my particular spec M2C with big brakes Haven't had a chance to look at it because it's just arrived at NJ port 03/22, in my driveway within a week, truly 8 weeks or less to east coast |

like all above said. if you want protective film for the boat ride over then don't do euro delivery. it's presented nicely polished since that's your delivery day, even if you don't plan to drive it. there's pretty much no chance they rewrap it since it will go straight to transport from the welt then to the docks. that being said, it is very unlikely you get damage anywhere in the process. you may have a dusty car after a few weeks in a roll on roll off boat. people will drive your car uncovered. what comes to mind is when employees drive it from the staging grounds to the ship and when it is driven from the ship to the vpc upon arrival stateside.
