Dinan Big Turbo Install

Was thinking of installing this myself in the driveway but it requires some special tools...so I'm on the fence about it.
I called a few Toronto BMW dealers and none will install this part. Anyone have a recommendation for a decent local shop?

What special tools are required? I did a pure stage 2 install this weekend and didn't need any special tools to do the job.

I guess I scanned the Dinan PDF and saw the part about the electronic wastegate. I realise now that our cars don't have that. I am pretty handy but got a bit scared.
Was your car on a lift?

According to the install guide:

http://files.dinancars.com/webresour...3f2fb5675a.pdf

That being said I believe the M2 has a Pneumatic Wastegate Actuator

If you decide to farm out the install, I really trust Rocco at RMP Motors at 427 and Steeles. He personally races the F87 platform and knows the car inside and out. He's done turbo upgrades and charges very fairly for excellent work.

I would also consider Burning Rubber in Oakville, if you are in the West end. These guys are also racers and do turbo rebuilds/upgrades/installs regularly. They have decent rates and are a great bunch of guys. They did my suspension, FMIC, Intake, C/B/I pipes, strut bar installs - when it comes to cars...I am NOT handy, lol

Reading now that our cars do have an electronic wastegate. How did you adjust yours after your Turbo install? Dinan say that the special tools are required for the correct adjustment.

It's my understanding that the EWG requires a 'reset' and calibration using an ISTA or similar tool (e.g. go into service functions and find a test plan for wastegate actuator adjustment ). Wish I could help more and this information is second hand. We'll soon be faced with this issue as we'll be swapping the stock for a Pure stage 2 (just waiting to hit that 1200 mile mark).

And this thread may help ...

Here is an update.

Spoke to Budd's. They said that Dinan require that you have an authorised dealer do the install if you want full warranty coverage. If your Turbo fails and you installed it Dinan will send you a replacement but you will have to swap it out yourself. With an authorised installer they will cover labor and materials. Seems to me that the turbo is the one thing I might consider having Budd's do. Also it is 5 hours labor including the wastegate adjustment @ $165/hour

Agreed. My turbo failed and Dinan promptly replaced my turbo but it was a 6hr. replacement that made me thankful that my Dinan dealer covered the costs.
