What would you do if someone drove your M2 like this?

I had my winter tires installed yesterday. I usually wait for my car but I had some things to take care of so I left it there and came back a couple hours later. I reset my trip meter when I pulled into the shop so the first thing I noticed was that there was 1.3 miles on it which I thought was odd. My 'automatic' wasn't syncing so I figured I'm just being crazy so I left. A short while later, I get home and app updates and this is what I found:

Standard test drive to make sure your wheels won't fall off. What app was that?

Did you read the stats?

From automatic: "We use velocity to calculate G-forces. And to achieve a hard brake or acceleration, Automatic needs to calculate about 0.3 Gs from the velocity data."

My car was taken for a joyride. Nothing standard about it.

Somebody did 8 hard pulls with the engine cold In a car that's not theirs. They have no real reason to drive it.
I would go there and politely ask if anyone had driven it. Then when they say the obvious show them that, unacceptable.

Somebody took your car on a joyride, no buts about it. There are no excuses either, driving hard on new tires for "break in" is against every principle too.

I would make sure to get a answer so whoever did this doesn't do it again. I would be angry as I'm sure you are.

Not only was it a joyride, it was a joyride with no regard for warmup or respect for you or your car.

8 hard accelerations.. they were having fun in it. You should always wait on it. I have replaced my tires on other cars at shops and have never had them take it for a spin after to check anything. I take it out and ride a miles or two to make sure its normal.

If it was checking everything was installed good and potentially catch a loose wheel you would want to do that at a slow pace not accelerating hard..

Yup. Car was sitting there for an hour+ and it was like 20 degrees yesterday with a real feel of way colder. I went down to the shop after I saw it and spoke to the manager. It was some punk ass kid that took it to make sure the censors weren't tripping. The manager tried to console me and was very apologetic but it doesn't really make me feel any better. He pulled the kid aside to show him he got busted and I didn't see his face again. I also had some customers wait outside for me to leave to ask me what happened so I filled them in. There's no recourse here. It's not like it's reversible. I bought this car and I always take care of it. It's so frustrating.

Out these fools. Post the business name and phone number. Allow forum members to shit on them.

These occurrences seem to happen all too often.

Yeah that's never a good feeling. You did the right thing! Your car is fine but it's tough knowing somebody abused it. The fact he made an excuse with the tpms sensors is not cool but he was probably just trying to keep things calm. One positive thing is that place will probably second guess this type of behavior for now on.

So regardless of how bad it sucks, you probably prevented future bull-shittery for others which is awesome.

I think this happens every time you get a service at a dealer with any M car, Or any Indy shop.We just don't always know to what extent. What app it that? I would love to try it.

I'm getting my windows tinted soon and guess what, I'm waiting with the car. A dash cam is a deterrent but not a fail safe.

It's called automatic. They sell it at bestbuy. It plugs in under your dash then it uploads the data to your phone when you get back into the car or while driving.

I'm rarely in the area. When I am, the car is garaged. I'm relocating out of the state soon anyway.

Same. I can't think of any other M that had this many posts this early of this issue outside of the e60m5 ... everyone wanted to dog those V10s so badly

You have to buy the piece then download the app to your phone.

"At Automatic, we consider an acceleration hard if you speed up 7 MPH or more in one second, equivalent to going from 0 to 60 MPH in about 9 seconds. In most cars, you have to floor the gas pedal to do this."

I've seen many great-reviewed dash cams on Amazon for less than $150.00

You simply record whenever in the car (or have someone working in it), then when you leave it, turn it off?

How often does one have to pull it off to erase the full card/reset? (Generally)

In most cars you have to floor it to hit 60 in 9 seconds? Wow. I've never seen these most cars.

It's hardly a joyride at 1.3 miles and 9 minutes and zero interstate driving. That said, there's no reason for them to drive the car. This is odd indeed. I'd mention it to the manager and demand some sort of explanation/free swag.
