Rev matching

We all know that the car rev matches on downshifts but has anyone tried to see if it does the same on upshifts?

Is that not a valid question? Wondering if I kept my foot planted the computer would not allow the RPM's to go to redline or fall too far while I am shifting. I know how to drive a manual but I have not had a car that performs the work for you.

What you're describing here is called no-lift shifting or redline shifting, where you don't lift you foot off the gas when close to redline.

The Cadillac ATS-V actually has a computer controlled no-lift system regardless of when you shift, it's slick but weird to use.

Ok, that is what I was wondering because a friend with a c7 ZO6 said the same thing about not lifting at all.

I am guessing if you are below the target RPM it will blip the throttle. If you are above, it probably doesn't do anything because you should already be off the accelerator and you can't bring them down magically.

Not completely off base here. No lift shift is a feature some cars have. Actually the M2 will hang revs a little longer post shift in order to smooth things out. Haven't heard anyone talk about it but it's real.

Drive with Traction full off then in sport. The revs post shift fall much faster with DSC and traction off. Also the DME adds a safety net from a standing start. It adds revs, kinda like a stall safety, before the RPM's dip, so I'm not talking about a the standard manual feeling.

It's actually for emission control, but yes. All modern engines have this slight rev hang feature. It's far less intrusive on BMWs than other cars I've driven.

Okay that's what it is. I didn't notice it until I started driving with all the aids off. Pretty interesting

That's what I miss about the S54. Instant throttle response, no rev hang, neck snapping engine braking. All to gone to save a tiny bit of emissions
